Title: WW2 pics that fade to modern pics

Warning if you are like me you will spend ages fading between pics %)

Post by: TailUK on February 13, 2016, 11:10:22 am: The Weymouth Lifeboat at the time the picture was taken was the "William and Clara Ryland" A 51ft Barnett Class boat, Operational Number 735. She served at Weymouth between 1930 and 1957.

Me too! The harbour is so distinctive from this view. For many years I sailed to Weymouth from Chichester and tied up in 'The Cove', a small inlet at the top left of the picture by the yellow hulled boat. Amazing photos of our history.

Post by: Starspider on February 14, 2016, 11:45:31 pm: I remember travelling from London Victoria? Station by train to Weymouth to get the ferry to go camping on Guernsey with the scouts in the early 1960s and going up the middle of the street great memories.

You can see how some buildings have changed and others hardly at all. Did anyone else notice that one building had 3 upright roof Windows replaced by modern (rubbish looking) skylights?
