So when did the font of all knowledge which is Model Boat Mayhem start, and where is the first ever post??
And do we all have to chip in for a birthday cake, as I will try and be out that day ;)
-
At a guess it was April 5, 2006, at around twenty to six in the afternoon - just in time for tea.
Only a wild guess, mind you 8)

Still loving the Mayhem this end Chaps! :-))
It seems impossible to tell how long the Forum has actually been active. We're been through several incarnations and variations on the theme, three or four hosting companies, servers, upgrades, crashes & data losses, restores and rebuilds and a couple hacking attacks too....
Found this on the Mayhem News Page:
Friday 7 April 2006
And now, after many, many requests and several late nights ...
The all new Model Boat Mayhem Forum [has been] Launched!

Heck - That was a darned close guess Dave !!!!!
-
It was probably an enquiry about a digital servo, or a Johnson 600 motors suitability for a 20" tugboat, that's why he can remember :-))

It's easy-peasy, dudes. I simply looked up Martin's profile and noted the date and time he joined. QED.
You'd make lousy investigators. 8)
Congrats, MD! Never in the field of human conflict have so many disparate* individuals been held together in a common cause (unless you count Donald Trump's fans - but that's politics and we don't go there, do we?).

*No - not "desperate" - go look it up.... (...again...)

yes, doesn't time fly -10 years doesn't seem that long does it. We have sadly lost a few friends, some of us have had a few name changes and may even have been banned from the forum a few times - got a few battle scars - but hey we are all together. There must have been some models made over the time on this forum - and some words exchanged too.
Martin, if anyone has done anything right in this world - you my friend got this right - MAYHEM - where would we be without it. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

DM has gone from a leather jacket to a bearskin and into
retirement in the intervening years. %)

Oh I thought for a second, it was while we were reading this thread :D

Amazing isn't it. Since the start we've become ill, got better, died, given birth (not the same ones obviously), changed homes, cars, partners (some!), boats by the lorryload, in fact every aspect of human (and pet) life has been discussed (except politics and religion). Great isn't it. Happy Birthday and roll on Wicky!

It's the best forum I have joined so far. Also, one of the most stable.
-
We certainly are a disparate group Dave, and I suspect many of us may be desperate as well %)
Well done Martin, Mayhem has become an invaluable source of knowledge on all thing model boating related, and a few other subjects as well. We have members from all over this world of ours, brought together by a common interest, and all because a man called Martin Davis started a small forum called Model Boat Mayhem.
Long may he, and Mayhem, prosper :-))
Peter.

The Forum came about after the old Model Boats (the magazine) was taken over and the Forum was deleted.
This left a massive vacuum and lots of model boaters staring at a blank screen and wondering if they will now have to build something.
Martin was contacted and he agreed to host and expand the Forum on his already formed ModelBoatMayhem site.
The word soon got round and soon a core of about 200 modellers was regularly posting.
As Bluebird has said the site has had its ups and downs, members banned and reinstated and the saddest of all some members going to that shed in the sky.
But Mayhem still reigns supreme and has gone from strength to strength.
Thanks Martin for 10 yrs, doesn't time fly!!!

Hear, hear!
Two 10 year anniversaries this year, 10 years of glorious mayhem both online and meeting together at Wicksteed. This is the only forum I check every day and I thoroughly enjoy every day of it, long may it continue.
Well done to Martin and his team of mods. :-)) and to all the members for contributing, for without them all there would be nobody to listen to our insanity!
-
Yes Congratulations indeed!
As said above - the only forum I check everyday O0
