Hi fellows, I have recently purchased ten C size 800mA batteries of 1.2v each. I intend to make them into two 6volt power packs. The charging time stated on the packet is that they should be charged for seven hours at 0.8amps. I have a Power Tech charger which will charge 4-7 cells at a time at 1.5amps. Can I use this charger to charge these made up battery packs (one at a time) without damaging the cells, and for how long to charge them? Please no technical answers.
Thankee.

Please confirm that cell capacity value. 800maH sounds very, very low for a C-size cell, and seven hours' charge at 0.8A would stuff 5.6AH into the poor things - or seven times as much as they should theoretically hold (like trying to get seven gallons into a 1 gallon bucket without spilling any).
Are you sure they're not 8000mAH cells?

:-)) The lowest capacity c cells are 5000mah and they do 8000mah, so I think that is what you have got and in that case your charger would be ok........Ray. :-))

Soory folks, one of those moments. The batteries are 'C' 4000mAh, make is Tronic eco Baby Nimh. Charge for 7hrs at 800mA.
Sorry again. can I still use the same charger?

Yes. Charge each pack for about 3.5 hours.

keep an eye on them while charging to ensure they don't get too hot
