Title: Brushless 1:24 Perkasa - advice
Post by: CliveJ on March 06, 2016, 10:37:30 am
Hi
My next build will be a 1:24 Perkasa - Precedent Fibreglass Hull  - thank you Captain Bligh  :-)

I am intending to go the brushless route and seek advice from anyone who has such a set up - tried and tested
or anyone who can provide advice ( I have read many previous threads some of which conflict particularly brushed & SLA vs Brushless & Lipo)

My thoughts are around 1000 watts of power from two outrunners (35 can size) running 3 or 4s lipos 2 x 45 - 47mm 3 blade props - I am unsure about the 3rd centre prop - free running or should this be powered too ?
I am planning on mixing the outer motors with rudder to assist steering - is this necessary?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Clive  :-))

The main problem is the 47mm 3 blade prop with the large blade area you will require a low kv brushless motor.
The revs to high and the motor and ESC will overheat!!!
The 3639-750kv(600watts)and the 3648-850kv(900watts)Hobbyking motors are  good reliable.
As for ESC'S I use the car ones with fans and no water-cooling required.
As of batteries a 3639-750kv in a single setup would run for a good hour on a 5800mah 60C.
