Title: Another fantasy build. . . Perfect for a Springer, but
Post by: rob on March 08, 2016, 12:23:50 pm
has anyone thought of, cannot see any references on here, of paddle drive for a springer.
I guess it's not strictly 8 inches wide anymore ( could be almost square !)
Quick thoughts are using Graupner paddles with independent drives from a 1/16 tank.
Ok, shoot me down before I start building. ( I need a break from the current scale big one)

Hi Rob, yes I thought about that a couple of weeks ago- - - are you a mind reader by chance? I haven't started on it yet, still trying to get my submarine version finished, so it'll be a race to produce the paddler version then!!

I think there was "Waverly" springer but I cant remember if it was paddle driven.  A Yankee stern-wheeler might be a better option.  I had thought about but then went off " on another track"  hint %)

Hmmmm. I feel a challenge coming on, you'll have to cut out the Woods and start cutting wood now Rob! A stern wheeler is a cool idea Arrow, just the last bit of fitting out on the sub first,

You may have some fun finding any Graupner paddle-wheels these days... 8)

You could build it into an American "alligator warping tug". like the one called billy shoepack in the old kids TV series Tugs.
I had a 4ft long monster a few years ago but it was too unwieldy to transport.

Thanks Trevor.

Haven't been on the water for a while as age is catching up with me.  I spend most days making things in the workshop as I like to keep busy.   :-))
