Thought I would post a few pictures of my Sea Hornet build which is nearing completion. This is only my second build and has not been without its problems. Firstly I wanted to add a rake to the transom as I though the flat stern detracted from the flowing lines of this boat, secondly rather than just use ply stain or paint I wanted a varnished quality wood hull and decorative planked deck, finally I stuck my toe in the water fitting a brushless motor.
I used mahogany sheet to build the hull sides and transom and a mix of mahogany sheet and plank and obechi strip to inlay the deck. I'm pleased with the result after lots of rubbing down and varnishing. I've wanted to give it a retro look and found some great chrome lights which I am wiring in to work and other chrome fittings. I didn't like the clumsy windshield on the original so tried to build "riva" style screen. I've upholstered the seats and passenger compartments with burgundy and cream leatherette which looks very stylish.
Motor wise I'm running a 1500Kv brushless outrunner on either a 2 or 3S lipo and 35mm prop which I hope will give it a good turn of speed.
I hope to get it wet fairly soon and will post some more pictures.

I posted by build on the model boats site under Sea Hornet 2015.
I have a 1900kv 28 mm brushless motor (750watts) on a 2650mah 3S Lipo and using a 32mm 2 blade prop.
She's a little rocket( about 40 mph), but, likes calm water.
I built it from the original Aerokits plan of 25 and 1/4 inches.
I have had the plans rescaled by 25% bigger(31 and 3/4 inches) for a future build.

Looks good, i'm hoping mine will perform as well. Will try a 2S first but will get a 3S if performance is dull.
A bigger scale version would be fantastic, I saw something that must be a similar size, a Sea Queen?? comes to mind.
It was powered was powered by a brushless water cooled In runner about the size of bean can and boy did it fly, planed beautifully.
Quite a sight so good luck with the project :-))

The Sea Queen was about 46 inches , the biggest of the Aerokits range.
Other one's are the Swordsman, Sea Rover, Sea Commander( I have the plans on PDF format).

An update, bath tested and balanced and now populated with some dolls house figures and accessories (1/12)...ready for a day trip along the coast :}
Just waiting for some decals from Callie Graphics to name it.

The Sea Hornet looks great, a top job!!!
Nice to be able to get all the scale figures for your boat.
Around this place there is not a thing.
The only figures I found were wrestling men which are not pretty.
As for boat parts, the same thing.
So my boat is a bit naked.
I did get the original plans resized by 25% from 25 and 1/4 to 31 and 3/4 inches.
If I rebuilt the boat I would use a spare D3548/4 1100kv(910 watts) on 3s or 4s with a 40mm 2 blade prop.
I have used this on other boats this size and works well.
With our winter started model boat building is slowing down, we have had some wild weather in the last week.
Doing a bit of swap of plans with other model boaters which has been interesting.
