Impressively designed vessels following on from their elder cousins the RAN Armidale Class Patrol boats
As always everything in this world appears as a political financial nightmare....with one of our major Banks funded the build of two of the Cape Class Customs vessels and leasing them back to the Government <*<
Then we have the Australian Northern Territory Government leasing the Port of Darwin to a non Australian owned entity >>:-(
The surprising thing here was to see a Cape Class model built by what appeared to be non mainland Australian model builders?

That is very nice. :-))

Looks a lot like an Armidale patrol boat! Built by the same company?

Yes.

I agree that these are a good looking ship and I am sure that they will be worked very hard in the coming years.
I started my own 1:72nd scale model of one several months ago and it is starting to take shape.

Hi Colin
My model is all scratch built. I am still working on the drawings as I build. There are not a lot of good close up detail photos of these ships yet so detail on the drawings will take a while. I might look at starting a build log in an appropriate spot on the forum and put up some photos of how I have made things to this point.

Steve
She is a very nice scratch build. I for one would welcome a build log on here of your build, you can never
have too many build logs I always learn something I shall look forward to your posts.

Hi Steve, the new CCPB is looking great, I'd love to build one to go with my Armidale. I like the colour scheme of the new class too, it's a bit different from the usual grey. As you say, detail is hard to come by, and if my experience with Austal when researching the Armidale is anything to go by, they won't be of much help. I sent emails to them, together with photos of some of my other builds, but they completely ignored me.
I'll be watching your build with great interest.
Peter.
