Eight Cape Class Patrol Boats have recently been constructed for Australian Customs and Border Protection with another two about to be built. I find these to be quite a good looking ship with their bright colour scheme (see the first photo).
These ships sparked my interest early on and I started to collect information with the intent of one day building a model. So now I have started construction and the photos below detail my progress so far. I am working on a set of drawings as I go with the information that I have available. The model will be scratch built from plastic on a fibreglass hull.
-
The next lot of photos show construction of a mould and then the fiberglass hull.
-
Once a hull had been built I could start on the rest of the construction.
-
Excellent Fibreglass work :-))
-
Brilliant work very nice hull. I'll hang around watch progress.
-
Impresive will follow with interest Bill..

That does look a neat boat, can see why you want to model it. Impressive progress i must say.
-
Great looking model you have there :-)) :-)
-
Slow progress on this model recently as I have too many other projects on the go at once. A few pictures to show what has been happening.
-
Looking good :-))

Nice model. :}

Nice work. I do like the look of the Cape Class. It's like a Beefed up Armidale.
-
Beautiful job. She looks 100 knots sitting still! :-))

It has been slow going on this model or the last few months but now I have finally given it a coat of paint.
-
That looks great Steve. You can certainly see the family resemblance between the Armidale and Cape.

that looks great :o
I saw a company called hacker brought out a kit of this but I wasn't too impressed

After a bit of a break I have finally done a little more on my Cape Class Patrol Boat. In the last few weeks I have fitted all the running gear and had the model on the water a couple of times. I am really happy with the performance and look of this model.
