Title: Open Days
Post by: JayDee on March 30, 2016, 03:04:53 pm
Hello,

Just been bringing my Calendar up to date, 6 of the Shows I usually attend are on the same dates !!.
So, instead of 6 very enjoyable trips out sailing, I am now left with the decisions of which ones I will attend.
Most of these shows I have been going to for many, many years - - this IS going to be TOUGH !!!!!.

Hello,

With reference to my other post about not being able to attend 3 of my usual shows, I think we, as Boaters, are not doing things as we should.
We need to get organised, we need a way of making Public what we are doing and when we are going to do it !!.

This Forum must be one of the largest forums for model boating, would it be possible to have a special section where our shows could be made, not just Public, but also for reference to, aid Clubs to plan ahead, to avoid their shows being on the same days as other local clubs.

The list of show dates would not be Legal and Binding, but it would allow clubs to alter their show dates if needed, if there was a clash of dates,

I do not think it would matter too much if a club in the south of UK had a show on the same date as one in Scotland, but there are shows on this year, same dates and only an hour or so apart - - which one do you go to - - very hard to choose if you have been going to both for years !!.

Via the Forum we are all in contact with each other, lets use this contact and make Life easier !!.

So, come on Chaps, lets see what we can do !!!.

John.

In other words, an interactive Diary? It could be done in an Excel format with a column for the date, name of event, location, specialism or generalism of what people will expect to see, contacts traders and exhibitors and notes.

We have the forum calendar ! Clubs just need to put their dates on that more..

Planning events is at times a nightmare. I start planning next years events in October and this allows me time to obtain info from other clubs on planned event dates. I do try to make sure any home events do not clash with away events. One thing I always check is bank holidays Mothers day Fathers day dates that do change and could impact on planning club events.

I just tried adding a club event date on the forum calendar but it decided to create a general forum post instead.

Mayhem is the same bank holiday every year. last year the dates were announced a week before the 2015 event!

As said earlier, if people linked their events into the Mayhem calender it benefits all

Hello,

Well, I am delighted that my posts have caught the attention of so many Members.

I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that I will be missing out on visits to Shows that I have been going to for years !!.

Perhaps the Future will improve - - I certainly hope so !.
