Title: Fast Electric 58" Apache build
Post by: martno1fan on April 04, 2016, 04:25:31 pm
Hi i thought id share my own build of one of my 58" Apaches, this ones going electric using a single massive SSS 5694 1000 KV in runner motor on 8 S.
Boat has a wrap on it of the Chief scheme just like the famous real size boat.Ive also made a custom sealable hatch for it ,just needs water proof seal fitting and fasteners adding to keep the lid secure.Hatch is 3 mm plexiglass sheathed in a carbon plate for extra strength.

How do you calculate where to sit the motor?

Ill be placing all the internals in the hull and balance her at 32% measured from transom  this thing is going to have lots of power far more than my gas motors i usually use  :D . I wont be fixing anything in until im happy but batteries will be sat on trays and they're big enough so i can move them for and aft to change cog if i need to.

Just get a good set of batteries with high discharge rating. I am running similar setup. Also, you should get good results with a propeller size of 78mm(x478 or x678 on ebay) or greater twin blade 1.6 (or x482 octura)

Hi no im keeping the prop much smaller as the rpms will be too much for a big prop and too much strain on the esc etc, will start with 57 mm prop as first test and probably work up to 67 mm.
