Hi,
have just finished my first RC ship model and am looking around for the next project. It seems there are many threads related to tugs from MMM but I can't find anything about the tug RMAS Roysterer made by the company Fleetscale. It this beacause the product is of bad quality, the firm no longer making this kit or what? The Roysterer is presented on the Fleetscale webpage but I find it strange that I can find no reference to the model on this or any other modelling model boating sites.
Any input is most welcome.

Don't have any personal experience other than to say I've seen one built up as a ROBUST before and it looked absolutely fantastic and very solid.
There is a review it would seem of the kit in the August 1991 edition of Marine Modelling Magazine if you can get hold of a copy (no source for that either - sorry!) http://www.magazineexchange.co.uk/marine-modelling-magazine-august-1991-issue.html
Fleetscale make some excellent kits that build up in to even better tugs so I wouldn't worry too much. If it tickles your fancy then go for it!

Having seen a kit of the Royster I was amazed by the quality of the running gear and fittings, the rudders are especially a work of art, well worth the money for them alone!

thanks for the hint abt Marine Modelling.. Amazed at the very fast replies - impressive!
So my next question: Anyone having a copy of the August 1991 edition of the Marine Modelling Magazine that I could buy or make a copy of the review of the Fleetscale tug "Roysterer" ? It seems htere are no back issues available from the editors.

Yes Fleetscale have the 1:48 semi kit Robust/Roysterer about £445 but can be bought in separate items even a super detailing kit, and it's from Fleetscale I guarantee you won't get better quality.

I really have tried to get in touch with them. I have mailed but get no reply. I have tried to register on their forum to get more info that way but they seem not to handle the registration. I have tried to find out more abt the Roysterer elsewhere, for example on youtube, but found very little. It seems kit suppliers such as MMM, Model Slipway, Deans Marine much better represented on the net.
That's why I think the review in the modelling magazine from 1991 could be of great interest.

My present build Hunt Class HMS Brocklesby's hull and plans were supplied by Fleetscale and I can't fault their service or their quality, it seems their Forum is down at the moment but the rest of their site is working fine, In case you haven't seen them here's some pics from their site. ;)

Joe, Fleetscale forum is working, they have changed the site rules so if you have not made a posting with in the last year you will have to re-registered.

I see what you mean about the rudders! Almost too good to hide under water.

The Rudders are not cheap bud.
The Props should be 4 blades not 5 and 70mm
Perhaps Prop shop M5 thread.
It's a nice tug and the mouldings are clean and of nice quality.
If memory serves all up weight to get to water line is 12kg

Was let in on the Fleetscale forum today and found two threads with plenty of pics of their tug Roysterer. Excellent!!
I think it will be a great build and with the anticipated weight og 12 kg a lot easier to handle from/to the car etc. The "Schnoorturm" is 22 kg and that's a bit heavy to get into the water in style...

I have 3 of these models.
As an ex engineer on RMAS Rollicker I can say these make up into a fine seaworthy model (unlike the real ships).
As has been said the drawings were taken from the original "As Fitted" drawings, the drawings that the shipyard would price on.
They all had 4 blade variable pitch propellers and the boats were changed for liferafts and a gemini inflatable.
On one of the UK warships forums there are lots of pictures of Roysterer laid up in Greenock just before her sale.
Rollicker unfortunately sank in the Indian Ocean with all hands after sale.
Sorry, they had 3 BLADE Variable Props.
