Title: Parents are a worry
Post by: kpnuts on May 17, 2016, 08:23:36 pm
Hi all well today is a bad day for me, my dad is 84 and I've been told by my mum he's gone into hospital with a chest and urine infection, he's on 24 hour oxygen and nebuliser, dosent look good my mum is complaining of pain in her lungs but won't see or tell a doctor as "she has to be there for dad" has sworn me not to mention to docs (I'm going to anyway) don't think things are looking very good.

kpnuts,
In elderly people a urine infection can have enormous symptoms but a few days on anti-biotics can have an amazing effect.
My father is back in hospital again he keeps getting infections after a few weeks at home.
I hope the infection will clear up soon.
I do know your situation as my parents are 98 and 86.
We are on first names with some ambulance crews!!!

Hope things turn out ok for you and your parents mate.

If its any consolation my dad is the same but copes at home now with 24 hour oxygen and nebuliser and dozens of pills. Docs put down his bad chest to  smoking into his 40's, working all his life with coal, asbestos and leaded paint - he was a docker, ships painter etc. My mum was diagnosed similar about 5 years back, went in for a biopsy on a lung and came out with half of it gone.

But she is well and copes with the tantrums of a 85yr old male under her feet all the time O0
