Hi guys could anyone who owns the above tug tell me what she weighs in at fully ballasted ready
For the water.

Didn't weigh mine but it was seriously heavy consequently sold to a nice guy from Market Drayton (much stronger then me). She had two large scooter motors which were 1.2 kilos each and two 12v 7AH batteries plus lead where required, I struggled to get her in and out of my car and into the water.

Why not give MMM a ring, I am pretty sure they will give you an idea of ballasted weight for the Eldergarth.
141 views and only 1 reply is down to the fact that not many will have the Eldergarth and ballasted weight will depend on what running gear, batteries etc etc you have installed or are going to install.

Hi, correct me if I am wrong but wouldnt boats weigh the same down to the water line irrespective
Of what batteries and motors etc are used?

Yes you are quite correct it will weigh the same as long as it is down to her marks, as for the actual weight, I have made Many Many model tugs ,but I really can't remember ever weighing one I just ballast them until they are on their marks and that is then right for the model. Perhaps that is why there were no answers to your question and we all do it that way. Geo

If its any help the motors in my Eldergarth weighed 1.2 Kilos each which is approx 5lbs there were two 12 volt 7.4 ah batteries 70 mm 4 blade brass props in MMM Kort nozzles and quite a bit of lead. You are right in saying that the weight would be the same overall to get to the waterline but in all honesty I never have weighed a finished boat. With the Eldergarth its because she is a big long wide boat hence the need for a lot of ballast, I struggled carrying my boat even without the batteries in place. Good luck.

If your looking at a lighter boat I've got the canning from mmm and it's easy to lift in and out of pond . Some lead at rear to keep the steerable kort in the pond but use 2 x 12 v batts for running and throw in a 6v for lights but that's the only ballast it needs so could be removed easily for lifting as it runs off a wiper motor being an older model but performs great and even with one bat in she runs around 4 or 5 hours easily on pond with tea breaks of course

Hi guys, had a message from Mobile Marine Models, with the answer to my question.
The Eldergarth fully ballasted including 2 12v batteries would weigh in at around 35lbs.

Hi John,
I am not doubting Brian's knowledge at MMM but my Eldergarth definitely weighed a lot more than 35lbs I know what I can lift comfortably and do not have a problem with a 25 kilo bag of cement (55lbs). I can't say exactly what my Eldergarth weighed but I am sure it was way more than 35lbs. Hope this helps.
