Title: Have any changes been made behind the scenes of the forum?
Post by: Brian60 on June 02, 2016, 07:12:47 pm
Twice today I have written a lengthy explanation and then tried to add attachments. The attachments were too large for inclusion. Now when this has happened in the past, hitting the back button returned you so you could amend the attachments, leaving the text in place.

However today hitting the back button just returns you to a blank message page, all your previously written text along with the attachments has gone!

If your writing some that's likely to be long and/or complex write in "word" first and then copy and paste into the box; saves a lot of hassle and frustration.

From one who has learnt the hard way.

yep looks like I'll have to start doing that. No fun when you've attempted it twice and dissapears into the ether.

It is Firefox Davie, but it is up to date, my settings check for updates everytime I access the internet.

Done the same myself, now I copy the text and then go back, then paste the text back in, then I check the picture size.

From experience I think this has always been case certainly here using Chrome.

Copying before leaving the page is the way to go.   :-)

Ditto on the loss when using Firefox. It's frustrating to say the least, even when losing just a little. Lesson learnt. Create in a text editor then copy and paste. Much betterer.

Yep, had the same happen to me (couple of years ago). Similar solution to others on here - type some text, copy and paste to word document (or similar) then return to "post reply" and type in more text if required. Carry on in this manner to completion.

I did try typing up in word first and copy across to "post reply" but, once posted, some of the characters were changed by the system, making the text awkward to read.

I'm sure you will have fathomed this out already but reading this log might help others who have suffered this frustration.

Regards,

Ray.

Yep, that's basically my method too! Also, use 'Preview.'

My Firfox does keep text if I 'go back' through the pages...

One thing that may happen, with long texts, is that the page may time out if you spend a long time typing it.
Annoying I know.
