Title: On A happy note
Post by: BFSMP on June 04, 2016, 09:18:24 pm
I just thought some of you who know Neil from past times on here would like to know.

he reached a great milestone yesterday, and on his 65th birthday, gained OAP status, and I for one would just like to wish him in his absence, a belated happy birthday.

Jim.

I passed 65 some time ago martin, but doubt if neil wants one, as I believe he's thinking of buying a motor cycle for himself.

Mad, if you ask me, but I suppose that is how he is.

What a lucky man. 2 years younger and he would have had to wait until he was 66! 10 years younger and he would have to wait until he was 68 :(( :(( This government has really improved the life of pensioners <*< Not being political, just saying.

You can have a wrinkly ticket as well as a bike.  An important downside of a motor bike at wrinkly age (especially if you haven't had one for a long time) is that once you get one that is big enough to handle you, there is often too much bike for you to handle.

Been looking at some modern bikes and this point of being able to lift them is of concern to me as well; that being the case I'll be sticking to four wheels and continue with the restoration of my TR6.

yes, age doesn't mellow him ..........he's still a GOG, and it doesn't help now that he is giving his daughter lessons in driving. But as you say Derek, he is a happier man these days.

I believe amongst his many talents he trained to be an Approved  Driving Instructor some years ago, so is putting that training to good use. But still moans that he isn't doing the modelling time that he should.

oh well. He thanks all who sent their best wishes for his day.

Ned

I had a D3 Bantam myself many many years ago.

A good little bike.

Think Neil could handle a D7 at a push.
That said he would probably get used to pushing it O0

LOL. i'll tell him that, ned, just before I run for the door.
Not with his bad back. he hasn't sailed any of his lifeboats in over 18 months because he can't lift them any more. I saw one of them the other day and it is really sad to see the beautifully polished cabins just absolutely thick with dust.
