Title: Thames Lighter barge project
Post by: sigfortunata on June 12, 2016, 05:05:29 pm
After having a go at tug towing and having refitted a TID tug I decided to have a go at building a barge to tow.  Found a woodpack and plan at Traplet .

However  its just a frame and with plans is a bit pricey for what it is so I continued searching and came across a free plan for an old Keil Kraft Thames Lighter.

The plan is really simple and the pages include instructions and a build log.

So I downloaded the plan and as its only 16" I scaled the plan up from A4 to A1 and I got a plan for a barge almost 50"

That was a bit to big so I just shortened the cargo bay by a few inches to get it down to just over 40".

I traced out the plan, cut out the parts from 1/4 and 1/8 ply.
