Calling all Tuggers - this is a date not to be missed so put it in your diary today.
18th September 2016 will see the inaugural Svitzer Challenge Shield at Balne Moor.
As the name suggests, the event is sponsored by the Svitzer Company which has provided a shield, a flag and some prizes - a representative of the company will be at the event to present the shield to the winning team.
The competition will be based on a one, two and three tug format. Sailing fees will be £1 per tug entry or £1 per boat for non-competitors.
At Balne Moor, there are a number of tugs sporting the Svitzer livery but there is always room for more! Don't worry if yours has other markings, they will still be welcomed.
If you have ever fancied coming to Balne Moor but not got around to it, why not come to this event? There is plenty of time for you to make your travel plans - check the website (click the link below) for directions and get in touch if you need advice (see contacts page).

Those of you who also read Model Boats magazine may have noticed there is a discrepancy with the date of this event.
The correct date is Sunday 18th September not 20th as shown in Model Boats magazine. My mistake :embarrassed: . Sack cloth for a month, again!!!
A correction will appear in the next MB 360 Compass.
If you fancy having a go at a real competition for 1, 2 and 3 tug formats why not come along. I'll post more details nearer the date.

Hi Mike,
We will be there wouldn't miss it. Hopefully there will be three of us coming over this time we will try to bring the good weather with us! See you at Haydock.
Cheers,
Pete. SMBC. :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi again Mike,
Re the 18th,
I will definitely be there with Steve and my mate John, Jim told me today that he won't be coming and when I asked him why he said he didn't fancy it! Maybe its my cynical nature but I think there maybe an outside influence after Haydock (think Auntie Wainright). But hey its his choice and loss. I'll explain the clue when I see you and Tess. My mate John is ex RN having sailed on the Ark Royal so if Adam is there we'll all be sea sick swinging the lamp. Fingers crossed I'll have the "Thomas Morley" ready to tow but its a big ask.
Looking forward to seeing you all again on the day.
Cheers,
Pete. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

The format will be for teams of 1, 2 and 3 tugs.
Its a pity Jim does not fancy it, I reckon it will be a good day!!
