It's probably waiting for permission from Brussels  %)

But the good old British Summer spirit is still going strong.

Monday afternoon was sunny and warm here so I decided to pack the ham radio gear into the car and go up to Seaford Head after work and see if I could make a few contacts. However, by the time I'd finished my last lesson of the day, it had turned foggy and dank. Up on the Head it was getting on for a pea-souper. Undeterred, I hooked up the gear and made a few calls.

Then three SUVs arrived in convoy and parked next to me. Nothing really unusual in that, but then they got out a table, chairs and food and proceded to have a picnic in the fog! I'd have taken a photo but they were too close for a candid shot.

Don't worry, hopefully it will be wall to wall sunshine from Friday once the EU Blues have been laid to rest.

And it's wonderful sunny weather here in Knott End, and has been for weeks.

Just hope it will be the same on Sunday for the long awaited arrival of Fleetwood's new Shannon lifeboat.

Jim.

Didn't you know the EU stated we can no longer have a summer, the reason for this is to force us to go to Spain etc for our summer holidays. Now we can make our own arrangements with the weather people and have our summers back {-)

It's the Mapperley Park Open Gardens Day tomorrow and Liz has been working almost non-stop for months to get hers ready. I've done the few bits I was allowed to e.g. cut the grass, repainted the shed and front door, jet-washed the drive. I would like summer to come back, if only for tomorrow, or there will be one very sad and angry lady stamping about the house. I can fix most things with a drop of super-glue or a screw out of the Man Drawer, but the weather is well above my pay-grade!
Fingers crossed........

Happy to report that despite it raining when we got up (don't ask...it was early!) the rain cleared off at about 9.00am and left us fine weather to give the garden its final brush-up in time for opening at 1.30. We had >1000 visitors through the gate and the rain kept away until about ten minutes after we'd shut up shop at 6.00pm. Many folk made highly complimentary comments to Liz about her garden and she is now a very happy bunny.
Quite whether or not she will do it again next year is not a subject to be raised yet!

Good for Liz Dave, no wonder she is chuffed.

How many of the visitors took cuttings though.....?

Our deplorable summers recently have been caused by a lack of shillings to pop in the Sunshine meter.

Congratulations and an excellent result Liz.......I bet you sampled a few glasses of Chardonnay after the last visitors departed O0......

[was it a Gold Coin donation  :embarrassed: at the gate? DM].
