I have only built one fishing boat during my years of building models. But I have decide to build a second one. I have had this kit some 20 years and the boss keeps asking when are you to finish it so here goes.
Stan
-
Hi Stan
will make a Very nice model look forward to seeing the build :-))
I plan to build a fishing boat over the winter
Jason
-
Yup, settling down with a cuppa and some biccies for this build log Stan.
-
Well Stan, I won't be left behind either - patiently awaiting your updates. 8)
Regards,
Ray.

Stan
A note of caution. I have recently completed the Marie Morgane by the same company. After its first outing it was left on the shelf for a few weeks and when I next came to run it the prop shaft had rusted and was seized solid. It would appear that it was not made from stainless steel!
I have replaced it and everything appears to be OK now.
Barrie
-
Hi Barrie already binned the internal shaft full of rust.Next problem finding a motor that will fit.May go for a very small brushless.
Stan.
-
The Elco build is almost complete now except for a few odd bits. So today made start on the fishing boat and I have to say with build book translated it still made know sense on construction. So its all down to my skills to build this model. just two pictures to start with.
Stan. {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:build book. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))just get on with it
-
Thats the wrong base board for plank on frame Stan, thats the one you use for Bread and butter! Seriously though progress looks good and I am sure you will do a great job despite the kit originated pitfalls.
-
Just done a little more today some of the timber is not very good may have replace some with light ply. The cabin will built from plastic card and the timber decks will be covered in plastic card also. Motor installation will be a little tight also.
Stan .
-
Hi Stan, looks like this is going to be quite a sturdy little boat - will you be adding the type of deck clutter you gave to the Lobster boat?
Regards,
Ray.
-
I have a garage set at 1/24 scale ready for this model plus the usual lights and may be a pump to simulate water cooling.
Stan.
-
Crikey, thats where all the clamps went! I can see it was trying to fight you.
-
HI all back in the real world again. Work started on this project again more pictures to follow.
Stan.
-
Hi all now back in the garage managed to plank the hull and glass fibre inside. Motor fitted and rudder plus small pump and sound system just a few pictures enjoy
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Excellent progress considering your recent efforts with shows etc. That pump is quite a good size isn't it.
-
Yes I bought this very small pump many years ago at a model show its been sat on the shelf for years. It just goes prove that you may buy something and keep it for years but some day it will come in handy.
Stan.
-
Made the most of this dry weather glue dries a treat. Rudder linkage now finished basic cabin construction almost finished. Hope to have hull in primer by the end of the month.
Stan.
-
Looking good Stan :-))
Ill be down the pond in the morning to take a look at that pump
Jason
-
Looking good Stan, :-)) , hope the weather holds off for the painting...... ;)
-
I am having a break from working with wood so I have started to fit out the model. Some pictures showing state of construction others showing battery and various items to make it go.
Stan
-
Lovely work Stan, what sound system are you using?
Si:)
-
That is a well laid out engine room Stan!
-
HI all managed to do a little more over last week. I have scrapped the wood material for rear derrick and made it from box section plastic. Various items have been modified or built again using plastic sheet the lights on the derrick are from Calder Craft. I hope to have most of the construction done by the end of this month picking up some items at Blackpool. Final pictures show the very thin copper wire I now use to connect all my lights. Sorry about the clamps in the pictures
Stan.

-
Stan
Is that wire insulated?
Barrie
-
Hi Barriew yes it is. I normally cut a piece say 20 foot long double it over fit to my hand drill and twist into a nice rope. This can then cut to size ends cleaned soldered to your L E D. Finally test all is ok with your L E D tester no need to worry about positive and negative at this stage. This wire can be bought from Component Shop all my models are wired using this cable when painted it almost vanishes hope this helps.
Stan.
-
I like the jib and net handling equipment very much :-)) Crisp is the word:O)
-
Progress back on track problems sorting small L E D for lighting.More pictures next week.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Picture updates.
Stan.
-
Hi Stan,
Nice work, Do you think this kit would be suitable for someone with limited experience.
I am trying to buy a few kits now so as I can do them when I finish my working life.
Mark
-
Hi Spinner p/m sent.
Stan
-
HI Guys pictures showing final fitting of running gear and electrics to make this model tick. I do like to see cables in a nice loom and clipped and tied were possible. Not seen in the pictures behind the sound unit is 2 way switch for lights and radar.
Stan
-
No wonder you win prizes Stan. That is lovely detail work and the 'Magic innards' is smart as well.
-
When will you be fitting the guns Stan?!
-
Very neat electrics Stan.
What does the vero board circuit do?
Ned
-
Hi Ned the strip board is for the two gantry lights.Power is taken from the battery via a electronic switch down to the strip board throught the resistors then up the postive leg to each LED hope this ok.
Stan
-
Thanks for that Stan :-))
Ned
-
First group of LED now wired up and tested. Just a few pictures showing resistors in place along with wiring for them. Mast and radar drive motor to fit next then final wiring. Pictures showing small radar drive motor fitted into plastic box ready for fitting to wheelhouse roof. Next picture shows cable running down side of wheelhouse this will be covered when the model is finished.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
I like the resistor installation method you have used Stan. If a resistor should fail it can be accessed easily enough for replacement O0
I'll file that idea away for future reference. :-))
Regards,
Ray.
-
HI Guys all the led work is now complete just a few pictures showing different lamps and the radar unit. The radar drive is inside the box with interior light fitted to the box. Next job to hide all those cables more to follow.
Stan.
-
Brilliant work Stan! I like the quality of your carpentry, very tidy and straight (where its meant to be).
-
Still working on the interior of the wheelhouse will try to post some more pictures next week.
Stan. {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{
-
where did you source the wire for the leds Stan? its very fine, is it multi strand or single?
-
Hi Brian60 will post information tomorrow.
Stan
-
Hi Brian short and sweet 36 gauge lacquered copper wire very thin but it is so thin it disappears when painted.I twist two pieces together to form a rope clean off areas and tin.Componant Shop supply both copper wire and single strand cable in red/Black hope this helps.
Stan :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi everyone building slow at the moment due to some big event not to far away.I hope to post some pictures next week.
Stan.
-
Construction is about 70 per cent done now its all those fiddly bits that are taking the time. Just a few pictures showing build progress so far. Cab floor tiled this morning and door refitted more pictures to follow.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club
-
You have done some lovely work there Stan. I like the simlcity of those rods with the floats on right to the working door complete with hook!
The floor looks too posh for a trawler. I like to think the skipper has taste, I wonder what his cabin looks like!!!
-
Hi the floor will be a little dirtier when the model goes into the paint shop some time in the new year some more pictures tomorrow.
Stan
-
Hi Stan,
It's coming along nicely, great build log
What type of plug/ socket are you using between the hull and super structure for the electrics ?
Spud
-
Stan, just had a read of the whole saga. Looks super, and gives a whole new slant on "Get a grip".
Cheers Jim :-))
-
Nice looking model - thanks for all the photos - helpful to all of us.
-
Just a few more pictures showing deck hatches made from styrene sheet and brass wire. Resin drums from Macs Mouldings. Plastic tube now covers prop shaft finally just some general shots. Hope to get some more work done this week if so pictures to follow.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club
-
HI Spud the connectors you have asked about are Multiplex MPX style from Component Shop page 31 in the 2016 catalogue.
Stan.
-
Top class!!!! :-))
-
Hi Stan, really nice looking model , good work Fella.
regards,
Martin. :-))
-
Hi all not much done this week some big event this weekend is taking all my time.So before I close I hope you all have a great Christmas and new year. Thanks to all at Mayhem for there efforts this year.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Back in the garage again Christmas is just a distant memory. I am now working a radar screen for this model hopefully if all goes well when the radar scanner is turned the screen will also work.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
An interesting idea that Stan, a bit like those "chaser" lights we sometimes see during the festive period. I hope it works ok for you. :-)
Regards,
Ray.
-
Hi Captain I need to change the resistor that contols the speed of the L E D. If all works out will post more pictures.
Stan.
-
Happy New Year Stan - Been watching your build with great interest - fascinated by your latest radar idea.
-
HI al2612 Radar screen now has a map fitted in front of the rotating L E D ready to fit the front cover and finish off the detail. Then it need wiring into the radar scanner circuit and hopefully they will both come on together more pictures to follow.
Stan.
-
Front cover fitted along with other parts looks little rough at the moment.
Stan.
-
Radar electronic drive unit now fitted in made plastic box and sprayed black ready to be fitted in the model. Also a very old action speed control this will replace the modern version made by Action again fitted in made plastic box. More to follow.
Stan.
-
I want to see a video of that working Stan! Bloomin genius.
-
Not much done today having friends round so my model building is curtailed a little today. Have fitted plugs /sockets for radar wiring pictures enclosed more to follow.
Stan.
-
Stan, my hats off to you Sir, that radar unit looks fantastic....ever thought of a marketing project....this could keep you in business for years ! :-))
-
Just one picture showing screen in place not glued.
Stan.
-
I have started to seal the outside of the hull construction is almost complete will post some pictures of the assembled model prior to painting hopefully by the end of next week.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Looking great stan!
-
That radar screen will look excellent when running!
I must remember your description of how you made it :-))
-
I love your attention to detail with this sort of thing- it's little bits of detailing that make a model even more interesting! :-))
-
HI Just a few shots showing the hull ready for it covering of matting and a shot of the models console. More to follow prior to painting.
Stan
-
Thats looking pretty good Stan
I love the radar set up!
Cheers
Mick F
-
I have started to cover outside of the hull prior to priming. I am trying a product from Deluxe models. The resin is water based and it is used in conjunction with a lightweight fibre glass sheet. More pictures to follow when primer is applied.
Stan.
-
How did you find the Ezecote and Glass cloth? The finish looks very smooth.
-
Answer in two parts
1 Product found in my local model shop.
But I think you are asking how I found it to use.The first step is to use the resin to prime the wood then sand smooth.Next step cut the mat place on the model and apply the resin smooth with old credit card or a piece of plastic card. When dry remove excess material sand area covered then apply a coat of resin.Final stage is to sand area remove dust and apply primer.Found it easy to use quick drying brushes easy to clean.
Stan
Stan
-
Hi Stan
Nice build there .
Can I ask where you got the lobster pots please ?
Thanks
Derek
-
HI Delboy Cornwall Model Boats. They are Cap Maquettes fittings hope this helps.
Stan.
-
This morning I am covering both hull sides the masking tape is fitted to the capping rails to stop resin going on them.
More to follow.
Stan.
Kirklees Model Boat Club.
-
Great Job Stan
I use the Z-EPoxy Finishing resin PT-40 with the glass cloth
Jason
-
Just finished applying the last piece. When its dry sand back the overlap and tomorrow sand down the hull and apply the final coat of Eze Kote resin.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Stan
Thanks for the info on the lobster pots.
Derek
-
All the hull work is now finished will be priming next week pictures to follow.
Stan.
-
I am now filling small blemishes on the hull sides hope to post pictures this week. During the construction I used light ply in places but after applying
numerous coats of sealer the grain is still visible. To cure this problem I need to fill the grain and re prime very time consuming. In future will only use L/P for area's that do not need a paint finish.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( now later :-)) :-)) :-))
-
I was wondering what weight fiberglass cloth you used and who it's made by or the skew or item number...
-
HI Roadrunner will check and get back to you.
Stan.
-
HI Road Runner the glass cloth is from Deluxe model products in the UK still looking for the label showing information. Just a few pictures showing the work been done on the hull prior to painting.
Stan.
-
HI just a few pictures to show how I have removed some timber parts due them been very difficult to seal giving a very poor finish. The defective areas have been skinned with plastic card and finished using evergreen plastic profiles much better finish. One step forward four back.
Stan.
-
I have now completed the rear deck section replacement with plastic card and evergreen sections. The hull now needs some final rubbing down ready for final coats of primer. Cabin is shown in wood ready for white primer coat and some other shots showing models final look before it goes in the paint shop. Model will be at Ellesmere Port this week end.
Stan.
-
Final pictures for the time being.
Stan.
-
the detailing in this is fab! :-)) :-))
-
The 'Poo Kestrel' and gas cylinder are brill touches. I like the arc lamps.
-
Very nice details! :-))
Just wondering about the outboarder engine ....
-
Hi Missyd the outboard will form part of deck clutter. No final location for some of these fittings hope this explains.
Stan
-
Stan... I understand. But you could paint and alter the outboarder just like it would have been taken out of the sea with the nets ... ok2
-
HI Missyd not sure where some of these items will be placed when the model is finished. Some may not be fitted at all. The idea of something brought up from the sea bed is very novel but who knows time will tell. This is only my second fishing boat, it is being built to go with a model I built 27 years ago, see picture.
Stan.
-
Hi all had a busy day getting this model ready for Ellesmere Port most of the brass parts have been cleaned and sprayed with a brass etch primer. Work still to do tomorrow more pictures to follow.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Wow! You do to boats what ken does to vehicle models :-))
-
Hi Stan.
Watching this superb build has inspired me to finish my Cygnus Revenge after about 6 years sat gathering dust in the garage.
Did you make the search lights or are they purchased if so where from.
Regards Randy
-
HI randy the lights on the gantry and cab roof are from Jotika sold under the Caldercraft name . The are
deck lamps and they used to be made by Robbe. I can p/m you with part number. Just out of interest I have replaced the bulbs with LED hope this helps.
Stan.
-
HI just had a short break back to it tomorrow.
Stan.
-
HI just had a short break back to it tomorrow.
Stan.
Keep up the good work Stan it looks brilliant. :-)) :-)) :-))
Regards Dave.
-
Hi Dave thanks for your comments. Not much done this week due to other things getting in the way. I hope to carry out first sea trials this weekend hopefully pictures to follow.

HI Guys. Well it got its bottom wet this morning slight problem with the small pump it leaks so on the hunt for a replacement. The model will need some ballast in the stern running bow down at the moment.
Stan.
-
Looks very good Stan..... well done. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Regards Dave,
-
Looks nice on the water Stan - she may be running slightly bow down but don't forget, that's with the main deck and all it's fittings missing, along with the nets and rollers. This could make quite a difference. :-)
Regards,
Ray.
-
Top job so far Stan.
-
HI Guys the small pump is out not sure if it will repair. Located a replacement not cheap but it will pump air gases and liquids so it should be just the job. Hopefully will be placing order tomorrow. Will post pictures when it arrives.
Stan.
-
Ordered my new little pump for simulated water cooling. It looks very neat and compact small unit big price. should be with me tomorrow quick test and install ready for test again on Sunday

Look's good stan not joking about the price
Ill be down pond sunday to see it in action

Looks quality ! Ow much :o
-
Brushless motor with built in esc?
Very expensive >>:-( .
I seem to remember Deans Marine
bringing out one a lot cheaper not
long ago.
Pump that is, I think it was designed for
a fire monitor.
Ned
-
HI Guys this model will pump air/ gases/ or liquids. This item is a diaphragm type pump the company supplies them for use in medical applications and industry. Sadly they are not something you find on the high street. In reply to T33cno Owch is right. The motor is a normal brushed motor but the brushless version does have a built in electronics.
Stan.
-
59 smakeroonies plus £9.50 P&P
Cant take it with you :-))
-
As self priming one could probably run it continuously as a bilge pump.? Or just switch it if the waterline is looking compromised {-) :-))
My Afon does let in water if it's rough. This could be the answer rather than trying to seal the deck hatch.
Perhaps secure my batteries for big waves <*<

Plus V. A .T

Plus V. A .T
%%
If it don't work I'll buy it at 2nd hand price O0
Only .4 watts is impressive. Or 0.08 amps at max voltage :-))
If it does work I'll buy one anyway {-)
EDIT a weight of only 1 ounce 8)
-
I happen to have some of these already 8)

-
if you need a bilge pump just use a car washer pump much cheaper.
Stan.
-
The poor performance of many after market inline 12 volt window washer pumps is starved suction >>:-(.....
[usually listed as 6 mm tube size, however this is OD and the ID is more like 4mm ID suction and discharge]
Genuine replacement pumps are more expensive, however look at the suction port size :o [15mm ID?].....these are also gear pumps...... so are positive displacement and reversible for flow direction
Derek
-
New pump installed pictures to day all been well. Just two pictures before installing.
Stan.
-
The new pump in now fitted. A few pictures showing pump and piping and the voltage regulator that controls voltage to the pump. All this is switched on using a Action single non latching electronic unit. If you use channel five on the planet set you can make the switcher a latching unit.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Very nice Stan. Looking forward to seeing how much water it can move :-))
-
Finally started to prime the hull and cabin. Watching other posts, there seems to be problems with primers I have used two different kinds on this boat see pictures. The primers used are from Halfords and Auto Tek and both have been applied over each other and if you check out the contact number on each can you will see they are the same. Both of these primers are made in the same factory and are fully compatible with each other and the can be used with Hi Cote as this is from the same factory as well. Just a few pictures showing first masking of the cabin area ready for priming, some shots of the hull in primer with just some final filling to do in places. The cabin will need some major filling before it can be painted. A WORD OF WARNING IF USING LIGHT PLY IT DOES NOT SEAL VERY WELL AND WILL NEED A LOT OF FILLING IF YOU INTEND TO PAINT. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((AFTER WORK. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Stan
-
Looking great Stan, your doing a grand job. :-)) :-)) :-))
Regards Dave.
-
Well we are now in the paint shop stage the cabin area to say the least has been a total nightmare. The light ply roof took some sealing just a few pictures more to follow.
Stan.
-
Just a few shots showing the dummy outboard motor. The outboard is from Macs Mouldings and the prop from Protean Design. Prop size is 8mm with 2mm thread please note these are actual working props. :-)) :-)) :-))
Stan.
-
Now I'll be really impressed if you get the outboard engines working Stan! ok2
-
I have seen a small fishtrawler in Brittany that had an outboard engine with the screw covered by mesh! Its was powered by the boats hydraulic system. I think they use when they have to shut down the main engine so it will not entagle the net.
-
HI all just a few pictures . Bulkhead which will form part of the wheel house masked and painted. Part of the deck is now painted. I have bit the bullet after having poor results with the light ply and skinned the roof with 1 mm plastic card also the door area.
Stan.
-
Very realistic electronics in the wheelhouse!!!! I love it!!! :-))
-
Painting stopped at the minute due to work on wheel house roof. While working in the garage this afternoon I took this shot. The completed model was built 27 years ago and still going strong. In front the new fishing boat still along way to go before being completed. The new fishing boat will be the last one I build lets hope its still going strong in 27 years.

Last fishing boat or last model? Oh no, not another star builder hanging his tools up <:(
-
No hopefully many more to come sadly no more fishing boats.
Stan
-
Phew!
-
Wonderful your old fishing boat!!!! Just love the realistic look!
-
Sadly no pictures at the moment still working on the wheelhouse roof . I hope to do some painting tomorrow if all works out.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
-
I am pleased to say the wheelhouse work is almost complete just some minor work to be done then back in the paint shop. I have enclosed some pictures showing the front deck and rear deck painted in humbrol 87 steel blue. Finally some general shots enjoy.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Lovely work Stan. I look forward to see the details you add to the rear decks.
-
Fantastic details!!!!! :-))
-
Just a few pictures showing the masking needed to paint inside the bulwarks. This was a time consuming job but by lunch time first and second coat of paint was applied. Out for the afternoon back early evening mixed some more paint but added more thinners than needed what a mess. After 10 minutes in a dark room problems sorted lesson learnt no talking while mixing paints.
Stan.
-
Wow .... I would have never done that with masking everything ... BRILLIANT JOB!!! :-))
-
Hi everyone masking again today. This time to allow the main hull colour to be applied. I have mixed humbrol light green and grass green to obtain the final colour slightly darker than light green. Next area to be painted will be a white boot topping then the timbers rails above the deck.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi Stan,
Are you using an airbrush for the painting?
-
HI Spinner yes all painting done by airbrush. More to follow.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
What make of airbrush are you using Stan as i need to buy a new one
Dave
-
Hi Dave a Badger single action not sure of the model number. But should this give up then it would have to be a Hiwata trigger action gun. These airbrushes are very popular with plastic modellers.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
HI Guys please to say the hull is dry and ready for more work. Today I have masked off the white boot topping line and painted. All been well more painting Thursday and Friday.
Stan.
-
Hi Guys most of the hull in now painted just two areas left to paint. Just a few pictures showing the paint job and fittings fitted with brass pegs for ease of painting also fixing in the deck.
Stan.
-
I love that green Stan. She is turning into a beautiful boat. I bought a Badger single action 24 years ago and it still serves me well on the odd occasion that I use it.
-
This morning applied second coat of paint to hand rail. Hopefully final coat this afternoon then remove masking tape. Just a fine coach line to place on the hull. Pictures to follow.
Stan.
-
Hi Stan, it looks brilliant mate...... you must be proud ..... a great build. :-)) :-)) :-))
Regards Dave.
-
Hand rails completed and painted front cabin coaming painted also. More to follow next week.
Stan.
-
HI hope to be back in the paint shop this week and finish some small construction details.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi Busy this morning masking off again. This morning painted the coach line around the hull just need to carry out some fine tuning on the hull.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi all hope you have had good Easter break not a lot of modelling done at this end. Hopefully will be back in the garage tomorrow painting and building. Tomorrow morning first job to order some Humbrol weathering powders and spares for my helicopter after that garage here I come.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi finally got back in the garage to carry on building and painting. Managed to order all the Humbrol washes and weathering powders for this model . Just a few pictures to show progress so far. Still along way to go.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
She looks lovely
-
Hopefully in a few months hope to look something like this. HOPEFULLY.
STAN
-
Hi all finally got the wheel house primed ready for main colours to be applied. Pictures to follow.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hi all two steps forward 6 back after applying the grey primer it was obvious more filling would be needed. Just a few pictures showing filler rubbed down when dry will clean off. I hope to be in the paint shop by the week end.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
It is a shame that you could not have used the rubbed areas as part of your weathering and wear processes Stan. Still, she looks good with all the accessries aboard. I am impresed with the quantity you have there of pots, floats and other gubbins :-))
-
Well after many hours of getting the wheel house ready for painting I am please to say I have made a start. I hope today to paint the internal parts of the cab and the roof area .
Stan.
-
Hi all just two pictures showing wheel house painted. I now have to paint and weather lots of fittings still a long way to go.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
I do like the colours you are using Stan. They will weather well.
-
Fantastic Stan 8) Lovely colours.
I may have a job for you {-)
-
HI all building now at a complete stop suffering from man flu and the builders are starting next week not sure when I will get back on track. But one thing is for sure Ill be back.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
-
Wonderful what you can catch at Donny, get well soon, nemesis
-
Get well soon and drink lots of orange juice for that Vitamin C boost. It does work, I have done it for twenty years.
-
Wonderful model (I saw it at Doncaster last Saturday), anyway, Iwas wondering if it would be possible to obtain a set of drawings for this boat
I would like to build another fishing boat to go with my Sheila (70s Scottish seine netter.
Once again congrats on your excellent model.
Steve
-
It looks like my building time will be stopped until late summer. Builders are now working well but I have no time for building. :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
Stan
-
HI Guys update on my build or not. My garage is now full of widows, Cement, Glass, Radiators and other items used by builders. Had no power in the garage for a week my fishing boat is packed away to keep all the dust off it. It looks like it may be a while before I get back to building again.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((Later :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))I will be back
-
I feel for you! See you at the pond tomorrow :-))
-
Still no joy in restarting the fishing boat. Builders have almost finished now but all the plumbing now needs to be done. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
Stan.
-
Still beavering away first fix plumbing done still no modelling done truly missing my hobby.
Stan.
-
You will be raring to go in a few days I bet :-))

Hoping to start work again on this model later in the week. Feeling raring to go after a nice break in the sun.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

After a long absence I can now confirm the build is now underway again. Nothing has been done on this project since May this year. What with builders working on the house and me doing all the plumbing and other things I had no time for model building.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((May to Nov. Now :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Hummm it seems now I have to paint the hall <:( and that's just after working on our daughters house...do the bosses not understand there are greater things to be finished..... :-))
-
Building is now underway again Just a few pictures showing some of the detail lots more to add before the model is finished.
Stan.
-
Very nice .... :-)) :-))
Did you made the fishboxes and pots yourself and how?
-
Nice one Stan
Meanwhile daughters house nearly done, hall not painted, and another boat gained from the model boat show..... {:-{
-
Those crab/lobster pots are the ones that you strap a flagstone on the bottom to take them down. It is surprising how buoyant they are. Hope you have the bishop in as well. nemesis
-
Awesome detail work there! Love the crab pots and other knick-knacks.
-
Hi Missyd the fish boxes are from Macs Mouldings based in the uk.The lobster pots are from Cornwall Model Boats U/K.If you buy the Asterix 2 kit they are supplied with the kit. There is still a lot of detail to be added more pictures to follow.

absolutely beautiful, Stan........a true work of art. :-))
-
HI I thought you might like to see some other items I have used to add detail to my build. Pit crew from Tamiya and garage set from Fujimi both of these are 1.24 scale. I also need a stool to go in the wheel house this is made from six cocktail sticks and some ply. And finally some home made decals.
Stan. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Excellent work! Absolutely stunning :-))
-
HI just a small update. The stool is ready to go in the wheel house I have also added some detail to the winch the kit version was a little bland. I need to paint the winch base then added some weathering /rust then fit to the model.
Stan.
-
Very nicely done! :-))
-
Stan I absolutely love the work you've done. I saw these two pics and quickly copied down the information. I can certainly use it for my build. I'll just paint the coveralls yellow for mine. I'll follow you from here. Regards.

Very nice!!!!!! :-))
Maybe you could do something with the net....? A little bit too flat and tidy....
-
HI Missyd having visited Scarborough last April I took some pictures of small fishing vessels. The drum that holds the nets either had nothing on them or the nets were wound tightly on them but will try to had a little more detail
Stan.
-
HI the cold snap has put paid to my modelling at the moment. Even with heat in my garage it is still to cold to work more to follow .
Stan.
-
Have a short break and plan your next steps Stan. She looks really good mate. I like the effect you got on the stool cushion, making that red-brown leatherette I think we have all seen on stools etc.
I bet the plastic kit manufacturers never guessed how diverse the buyers of their kits would be :-))
-
Beautiful models Stan........and you weathering [ which I have never attempted] is just superb.lovely stuff
-

This is lovely work Stan, when I saw it in the flesh it looked even better, cracking model.
-
I love the details and the hull colour.
-
HI all hope to have pictures on the water later this month. Just a few problems to sort out first.
Reposition on/off switch and make a hatch to cover it.
Some rope details to fit and fenders and tyres to fit also.
Stan.

Well its now September I should have had sea trials done way back in June but even with the best planning things go belly up. The model got its first trial this morning needs a little ballast in the stern to lift up the bow and more rudder movement is needed. Four pictures from this morning.
