Post by: Blakeney on August 15, 2016, 09:57:59 pm
Just about finished painting the fibreglass hull of my Taymar lifeboat and applying transfers.Should I lacquer before or after?
Am using Halfords acrylic spray throughout.
Thanks.
John.

applying after applying will seal the transfers against water

Hi it is worth testing on something else first.  I have used Halfords lacquer but it did react with the decals I had from Graupner.  They crinkled after 10 minutes or so then settled down.  When they had dried they were acceptable and having decided that the worse had already happened I sprayed again and it all came out well in the end.
So if you have a spare decal practice on that first.
I put my transfers on using water and sponged them dry afterwards.
regards Roy
