Since the local model shop changed hands and they stopped stocking Bob Smith glues, I've been using the "Professional" cyano from Cornwall Model Boats. I like it a lot, but I don't like the container on account of however careful I am to wipe the nozzle/spout part of it after every use, sooner or later it sticks to the inside of the bottle top. Next time I want to use it, the nozzle/spout thing comes out stuck inside the top as I unscrew it and I then have the fun of separating one from t'other. Everything is rosy in the garden then until next time it does it ...
1. Assuming that nobody else has this problem, what am I doing wrong?
2. What's an alternative good quality thin cyano which comes in a container this doesn't happen with?

Hi Norman. why not try leaving the cap off. I usually use a thin extension tip for my Cyno glue so I can't put the original cap on. Stored upright they don't set inside the tube and seldom block up. Might be worth a try, mind you it only lives in the workshop where no one but me goes. Man's got to have his man-cave O0 .

One of the best that I have found is Vital Bond. I have only used their thick version, but the bottles have a metal pin in the top which stops the hole blocking, and with a good wipe, seems to stop the cap sticking. I'm on my second bottle and no stuck caps yet. :-))
I haven't tried the other grades yet so can't comment on them. Next time I go to Balsa Cabin I will buy their medium and thin versions.

Meanwhile, Chris' idea of using the hypodermic needle-type extension seems to be working ...

With any cyano;
1. Use it.
2. Wipe the external surface of the Nozzle.
3. Put top back on firm.
4. Strike bottom of bottle firmly on a flat surface (this forces and drains any cyano, out of inside of nozzle).
Seldom sticks with this procedure.

Another little tip for you Norman - when you take the top off the container, apply a THIN smear of Vaseline to the threads inside the cap, apply with a small artist type brush. Works for me.
Extend the shelf life of the contents by storing in the refrigerator (but be aware of who can access it).

This may be a problem with cyano but what annoys me is the way that epoxy creeps out of the tube and makes a sticky mess all over the surrounding scenery, a bit like an octopus escaping from its aquarium tank. It just seems to sort of siphon itself out of its container.

'5 Star Adhesives' sell the larger size (50g) super glue empty bottles, caps and various pointed nozzle/applicators
at the annual Warwick Show at a reasonable price - guessing available to buy online.
When I reach 'the end of my tether' with a gooey ruined bottle, usually around half the life span of the contents,
I start again with a brand new bottle !
I highly reccomend their tapered applicators, they deliver the tiniest drop of thinnest Super Glue with great accuracy.

I keep my bottles of this type of glue in a fridge and they remain useable much longer.

PS I have my own fridge in the garage so it doesn't interfere with "domestic arrangements".

Use a tissue soaked in meths to wipe the nozzle
