have just read this myself also.

he made some very good family films.

my favourites of his were Silver Streak and Stir Crazy.

didn't realise he was 83.

Sad news but brought alot of enjoyment to people though his life.

Still remember watching blazing saddles and see no evil hear no evil and still makes me laugh

John Suchet on Classic FM this morning played a tribute to Gene - Mantovani's Orchestra playing 'Somewhere, over the rainbow' and it was very poignant and touching.  :((
