I'm sure lots of people would have wanted them - but the post is just titled "london eye" so could be about anything. Perhaps, "Free tickets for the London Eye." would have had a better response.
Even when we open the thread up, it just says "any body live near the London eye" and another Mayhemer has to guess what you are talking about.
The offer is a nice idea but don't get grumpy when people can't take it up because you haven't told them what is on offer. We can only go on what's written on the screen, unless there are any mind readers out there.

Gordon is well known for collecting vouchers for UK attractions,
and offering them free gratis to members.
I would imagine most of the regulars on the forum understood
his post.

That's my point. This is a really nice gesture, but you had to guess from the title what the gesture is. That's why no-one took up the offer, something that has obviously upset Gordon.
There may be a whole load of new members missing out on this because they don't spend enough time on Mayhem to know what every other person does. It's easy to assume everyone knows everyone and so thread titles don't matter, but this one proves they do.

Might be worth mentioning how long they are valid as that might affect how they are viewed. If it's 6 months or more even I might be tempted.
