Hi all roymattblack sent this model to cheer my missus up in her recuperation.

First off let me say this may take quite a while as looking after Pam takes a lot of my time, but things should get easier as she recovers.
This model does not have a sun roof as Herbie does so that's the first thing to tackle (luckily I did the samba bus a while ago with the sun roof open, it was a little too wide and long and a little too flat but nothing that can't be fettled)

Looking great already! What did you make the cover from?
-
Looks like milliput to me. Good job whatever it is.

Lovely work on the roof Ken, nice start indeed. :-))
-
Thanks, the roof is cut down from the samba bus then heated up in boiling water and bent to fit.
-
Ah! Good idea and very thrifty.

The body is good and glossy for applying the decals so she will be a beaut Ken.
How is your good lady doing?
-
She is coming along amazingly (at least I think so) I keep telling her the pain killers are masking how she really feels and not to over do it, I came home dinner time and she had made me a cup of tea, I know it doesn't sound much but the pride on her face and the love was amazing.
-
I am so pleased to hear this. I know making a cuppa seems to be a small job, but it usually requires lifting and twisting and a bit of bending down to bin the teabags, so remembering not to do too much of any movement that would aggravate the injury, as well as the act of making the tea is currently a great acheivement. It makes us realise how it is for the disabled who have to compensate and think a way to do many things we take for granted.
Wish her well from us!!
-
Thanks mate, I think it took her a while from what she said, she did the tea bags and sugar then sat for a while then the hot water and milk. She is so brave ( or maybe stubborn) she is so cross as she sees no progress and hates it , I , on the other hand am amazed at her progress, when she gets down I just remind her how close she came to being paralysed and how lucky she actually is.
-
I know exactly what you mean. I am disabled and can barely walk even indoors. My darling Missus has had a kidney transplant and been left with a huge hernia but still looks after me bless her,All being well I get new hip/hips on Friday and I can return the compliment Wish your wife well from me John
-
Thanks John I will.
