To be fair, I just bought and put together an Infinity RG65 yacht from Hobbyking, and have to say that they have made a pretty good fist of it.   It is excellent value and sails pretty well out of the box,  EXCEPT (and there is always one)  don't follow the extremely clear diagram showing you how to thread and tie off the bowsies.  If you ever manage to get the thread supplied through the same hole 3 times, the damn things will be virtually impossible to move !

I ordered some parts costing £3.25 each inc. free P&P from China last week and they arrived in 6 days.

Also remember that most of what you buy in the UK comes from the far east and so is the same quality.

I saw some miniature swithes spdt at 1.46 for 10, I had to ask if they really were 10 £1.46 and they were!  So I bought 20, I have an immediate use for 12.
Took a while though, must have missed the container!

Some chap from Victoria designed and was granted world Patents for a small timber saw frame processing system

His Chinese Lawyers have proved the proliferation of copy machines in the Chinese Courts

The final proof of copy, was when the Judges found photocopies of the original Australian produced instructions in the Chinese built kits

Yeah. You can't move for classic British built cars from the 70s. The never rusted, broke down or included hopeless design faults!

And don't get me started on UK manufactured Humbrol paint...

The UK manufactured Humbrol paint was perfectly OK.  It was when they out sourced their supply and provided jobs for the colour blind that the problems started.  Its been back in the UK for a few years now, but no doubt the random production still has lots of examples working through the system.
But you know that what you bought was made in China if postage was free and delivery happens about a fortnight later even with an address in UK.

It's not the colours, it's the consistancy. I've recently had pots as thick as jam and have just been using matt varnish aerosols which gum up before they are half empty. These aren't old batches working through the system, this is UK manufactured rubbish.

British isn't best just because it was made on these shores. It's only best when it really is the best. That's why we lost both a motorcycle and car industry, we were convinced that foreigners could do no better than us so we stopped trying.

One day, the blinkers will come off and we'll start working towards being best again.

Of course, if the British people didn't prefer low cost to quality, this would be a lot quicker.

Same here Phil, last pot of red that I bought only lasted 2 months before it turned into a jelly like
substance & became totally unusable.

Have always used Humbrol paints, but am now looking at other brands due to this problem, it's happened
with other tins of varying colour, but put it down to those tins being quite old, seems age has nothing to do
with it as the tin of red should have been well within it's 'use by' date.  >:-o

My recently bought humbrol paints have been excellent. Just needed a very good stir. I can't understand why some of us are having a bad experience with them. Can it be old stock or bad storage?

Hi we have a "Range" store nearby and they stock a double strength acrylic set of car spray cans at a very good price.  Can't remember the manufacturer though.  Anyone used them?

My local car bits store also has a range of spray paint ideal for covering largish areas, Think its called Polycote or something similar. Have to look out a can and confirm name.   Good range of colours (covers most makes of cars) easy spraying and a good quantity for about £4.99 a can.

I've had good and bad paint. Matt black is still pretty good but others have been rubbish. It seems like the person who did the quality control work has left and not been replaced. Some batches good, others not so.

It looks like there are also 2 factories. Some produce paint with a painted lid for the colour, the other a silver lid with paper label. Talking to my local shop, they get orders in with a mix of the two.
