Title: Plastikote lids sticking
Post by: bosun on August 14, 2007, 08:42:41 am
Hy Guys,
On checking my jars of Plastikote paints, I find that several of the tops have stuck solid, any one got any ideas how to unstick them, I dont want to pierce the tops or break the glass, as only a little has been used from each one. ???
Many thanks in advance
Bosun

i have that trouble often, the paint gets between the lid and the jar, my trick is a self-gripping wrench on the jar and one on the lid, grip with both, add motr pressure to the lid and twist, failing that, a screwdriver under the thread usually works

rich, you dont add THAT MUCH pressure, just enough to hold the jar steady, besides have you seen how thick those jars are!

Having had this trouble with my paint containers I nowdo the following,   As soon as I get home with my latest purchase of paint I unscrew the top and place a piece of clingfilm over the top of the container and screw the lid back on.... ergo! no more sticking tops, also when the container is half full I keep all of them 'Upside down', that way when I come to use them the hard skin that forms will always be on the bottom of the container.    bigH

Thanks Guys,
I apreciate you all getting back to me, Stavros , you are the one everybody holds in repect concerning paints, so I will do what you say, I will let you know how I get on.
Ghost, I will use the screwdriver as a last resort and re=tin the paint
Big H, that sounds a good idea with the cling film, will definately do that from now on.
 Cheers Guys
