Title: Brushless lift motor control.
Post by: Netleyned on November 02, 2016, 05:11:07 pm

A mate of mine has built a hovercraft with a brushless lift motor.
He wanted to control it with the fifth chan switch on his Planet T5.
Is there a way of switching a brushless esc to full ahead without
using an analogue control?

The fifth channel switch on the T5 can be set for a slow transition from position one to position two, look under the little hatch on the RH side. Would this be enough, as it would provide a steady inflation of the skirt, as the motor spools up to full power. Setting up your speed control on this switch may b e interesting though.
I do not know of a method of controlling brushless without the input of a speed control, which would be best controlled via a proportional channel on a radio. Short of using a servo driver manually of course, a bit backwards that option...

Would have thought a brushless esc
needed a zero to full ahead progressively.
A brushed motor could be switched off to on
easily.
The question is do the airy fairies have any
on/off switching for brushless?

You can go from zero to full on with a brushless esc if you choose. The esc handles all the start up routine anyway. Some esc's will have a throttle curve built in, that tends to be there more for the car boys to preserve gearboxes etc.

Thanks Subculture.
Would the switched channel
on a T5 do the job?

Should do, done the same thing on a hovercraft before but don't like the lack of control

Thanks gents.
I will pass the info on and
get h to try switching first
before getting too technical.
