Title: Balmain Bug lines?

A general shout out for any copies of a Bug
Planning to work on a 12" or a 24" version
I've a quantity of cedar and Huron that needs a purpose!
And I'm on The small shallow lake that feeds into Lake Macquarie

Bill.....not sure if you are colour blind :embarrassed:........the Bugs are translucent green/grey in the uncooked state, then reddish/orange when cooked  :-))

mothie....years ago, a good acquaintance had his family cruiser moored just off Dora creek...he was also a 1/2 owner in the MV Wangi Queen

Many a long weekend on Lake Macquarie ...& anchored most evenings off Pulbra island..........the health of the lake was absolutely superb for sea life %).....

But anyway, tell us more about your intended build................. Derek

The "bug" illustrated was treated as a rubbish "by catch" by the early prawners in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Was known as the Moreton bay Bug.
As I kid in the 50's in Darwin, we bought a sugar bag full of these , direct from the boats for a bob.
The prawners  were only after prawns. Go figure!


But, I remain hopeful that someone has a draft or lines of the other Bug.

Never seen anything like that. Amazing what nature produces in it's process of evolution.

Mothie is correct, the unwanted  Moreton Bay Bug is now sold as a delicacy at seafood outlets and in restaurants.

Times change.
