Title: New Hobbyking website...
Post by: inertia on November 07, 2016, 04:42:39 pm
Just went onto HK's website looking for the spec of a particular speed controller. Selected Speed Controllers > Boats and guess what? They don't sell them any more. Makes you feel kind of unwanted, doesn't it?

The Turnigy and Hobbyking's own ESCs are there, but you have to trawl through each of the Amperage ranges to find them. Some numpty website controller hasn't had the common sense to group them together in the database. Hobbyking's 'search' is a pain and will not show any results for marine or boat esc.

It's a real pain to find them, but they are there.

Hobbyking revamped their website last week and it is a disaster, most of us think the search facility is now based on a random number generator.

There is every likelihood that the kit is still there, but hidden in Limbo.

Start here...  https://hobbyking.com/en_us/speed-controllers-esc-1/all-speed-controllers.html?dir=asc&order=name&p=3    they are in alphabetical order

Maybe, and possibly for the best of reasons - but it was a marine one I wanted the specifications for. Searching under "Car" therefore didn't seem like such a clever idea in the circumstances.

Has anyone attempted to use it yet?

I tried to pay with paypal and it wanted all my details. After entering them, it says I am already registered, click to continue, at which point you go back to the beginning!

Go around the paypal button to the checkout and it wants login and password, enter them and it says you are registered, nothing else. I tried both options and even a new registration, eventually I was kicked off for too many failed attempts and have to contact them. Using the help option doesn't connect to either email or phone, just a list of faq's. I'm loathe to call them as I only want a matching servo to one I already have and its only 6€

Well I got through to live chat. It seems my account has been disabled because I haven't used in for 'quite a time' I can understand that, afterall my last order was placed oooh waaay back in October!

Now they won't enable it until I provide them with my phone number, which I did, but they say its not the same one - err I think it is as it's the only one I have!

Their loss, I'll pay a few € more and order from elsewhere.

I attempted to make a purchase this evening. It showed a dispatch from Hong Kong. I do not want this, but it seems there is no way to select the UK warehouse any more and I am not prepared to wait 3 weeks and pay excess charges so it seems they have lost another sale.   >>:-(

Above the description of each item is the list of warehouses, just click the one you want items to be shipped from and the products displayed changes to just those available from the selected source.

Thanks to both. I did all that kinmel, but it appears john has the answer and the UK does not supply the item. No problems as it is not essential.

I finally got around the problem. I re-registered, with the exact same details as before, I just had to change my email address. It seems this is the only thing the algorithm checks for, rather poor security of a customers details if you ask me. Once I have received my servo I'll go back and delete the account.
