Title: RN ships siren
Post by: polaris on August 16, 2007, 01:17:41 pm

Dear All,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the above somehow? By siren, I mean the 'whopping' type (not wopping!), that 'whoops' up in 'stages'. A long shot I suppose, but worth asking all the same just in case.

Regards, Bernard

If you fancy either building your own or modding an mp3 player, there is a downloadable recording at

right at the bottom of the list.

Dear Peter & Doug,

Not being familiar with such units, can you advise how these are on/off controlled please - and what I would need. The vessel is a 1:96 HMS Belfast so I am not bothered about weight, but the vessel is controlled by a new Skysport 4ch 40 MHz TX so I have no spare ch. on this, however, I do have a spare 40MHz 2ch. TX.

Dont know about the "proper" ones, but the home made onejust needs a very momentary pluse on the playback control lead which is done via a microswitch stuck to the steering servo. Full left + full left trim tab is enough to set it off.
Only thing to watch is that you are not under power when doing this, but the inertia of the boat hides unwanted manoevers.  Of course, the rich could have a third channel and a switcher.
