  Couple of points of interest here. Larsen and Toubro were two Danish engineers who set up in Bombay in 1938 to import Danish dairy machinery. They expanded into ship repairing (and other fields) during the Second World War.

 Cyclones are notoriously dangerous along the Coromandel Coast, and at intervals you see large round fort-like structures to shelter local people when the storms strike.
