Title: Our Lass II
Post by: John K on January 10, 2017, 02:47:15 am

Hi, I am new to the forum. Started a Model Slipway Our Lass II just before Christmas, this is my second ever build. Made good progress due to a weeks vacation but things will slow up now that I am back at work.

Found it pretty difficult to align the prop, skeg, kort nozzle and rudder but got there in the end. The working bow thruster fitted in just fine. Suspect I may need some help as I move forward with the build. I will start a build post soon.

My first build was also imported from England, A Deans HMS Guernsey which is now completely finished. I am interested in scaled boats that can sail in open and sometimes choppy water.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Kind regards,

John.

This is my crack at building a Model Slipway Our Lass 2, my second build ever. Started in November and made some good progress while I was on Christmas vacation. Things have slowed down now that I am back at work.

Kit arrived from England in great shape. No damage and all parts present.

Fitted a working Bow Thruster. This went well and test run Ok when submersed.

Bilge Keels also fitted in very well and are pretty solid. Followed the instructions for this.

Fitted Anchor Box and Deck supports. No problems.

The rudder tube from the kit was below the waterline. Used a different shaft and tube which I cut just below the rear deck support. The original must be Ok as I see it used in other posting but I decided not to use it.

During the first bath test the propeller wobbled a little and there was a drip into the hull, nothing major but decided to try and fix it. Got a new propshaft mailed over from a store in Cornwall. Lubed this up and the issue was gone. No leak or wobble.

Cut out the openings on the stern for the nets. The skeg, rudder, kort nozzle and prop were challenging to align but got there in the end.

Overall this is a great kit and looking forward to spending more time on it.

John.
