Title: Red cheese, like Stilton?
Post by: Martin (Admin) on January 20, 2017, 12:14:10 pm

Quick one chaps and Ladies, I had a hunk of cheese over Christmas, loved it but don't know what is was.
It was in a cheese selection box, which got promptly thrown away and didn't much attention to the label.
Best description I can give it, very much the look and taste of Stilton Blue but Orange / Red ( like Red Leicester ) and a much mellower / creamier taste.

 Any ideas anyone?

Not a big fan of Blue Cheese but it does sound like "Shropshire Blue". O0 O0

Monty Python's Cheese shop sketch sprang to mind as I read this topic!

But yes, your 'Cheesey commestible' looks to be Shropshire Blue not Liptauer, Bresse Bleu or Venezuelan beaver cheese.

definitely Shropshire blue. I buy it regularly from a cheese market in Garstang on a Thursday.

was it a supermarket selection box, if so can you remember which one, a visit and see if any of the store staff remember it being on sale and what it may have been, if MS food maybe they would know, look on line and see if they still have any in their online stores - not to buy, just in case the packaging is shown and then you could list which it was.
