Title: Reversing a Sensored Motor
Post by: cos918 on January 26, 2017, 10:18:07 pm
Hi All
Need some advice . I am using a Hobby King X car 120 A ESC see Link
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbykingr-x-car-120a-brushless-car-esc-sensored-sensorless.html
The motor is a GoolRC 21.5 Turn sensored motor
I have followed the instructions and connected A to A B to B and C to C and also the Sensor wire . I set the ESC up using the USB Adaptor and Hobbywing   USB link V3.52.03.
I Have a problem . when I push the throttle forward the prop runs in reverse and vis versa  . On the Hobby King website under the files section is the manual . In there is say if you are using a Sensored motor you can not use channel reverse . Not to sure why but its there .
Any one know how to change the direction of the motor please ?

John

It is just badly written.
Because I know transmitter servo reverse to be the only option I expected a warning not to change the A,B,C wiring sequence.
So use only transmitter servo-reverse with the sensored lead.

When doing (2) throttle range setting , try reversing the stick position, stick back for forward, stick forward for reverse.

Thanks for the advice . I will try the servo reverse first and see how that works .

Suerly just changing 2 of the motor cables around will do the job thats what everyine does when a brushless is turning the prop the wrong way.....works for me

Swapping the wires on a sensored set up will usually just result in a fried ESC. Some esc's can be reprogrammed using the appropriate USB software, or since this ESC supports both sensored & unsensored motors it may be possible to use the motor unsensored which would mean swapping any 2 wires would work. However, you would need to check out the specific characteristics of the components before trying that. Perhaps the HK forum of an rc car forum would have better information.

On A Sensor Less motor you could swap A and B and B and A that would work . With Sensored the would destroy the ESC instantly as the sensor would say the motor is going in reverse and the ESC would be saying the Motor is going forward.
Ask Hobby King and they dont know .

You'll have to program it again and change the REV setting in software if you don't wish to do the transmitter servo reverse.
Just don't change the A,B,C sequence like you could with sensorless.
