Title: silver soldering
Post by: 3838Derrick on February 04, 2017, 11:49:43 am

Hi all.
Has anyone used silver solder "Paste?"   Could it be used instead of conventional silver solder rods?
Thanks,
Derrick.

Iv used it for assembling very small components but in all honesty cannot really say it has any advantage over conventional rods or foil
It would not be very good for building say a boiler in my opinion as it wont fill unless you buy it by the buckett load
Have a look on the Cup Alloys site theres loads of very good info
Just my two bobs worth

Hi Derrick
silver Solder paste is for small fine work the flux and solder are all mixed together just add paste then heat the workpiece up. Its also used in jewelry work the only problem I've had is the fluid in the small bottle evaporates very quickly.
You can get soft solder paste as well you use a small burner than using a soldering iron when using this.
