ESC Question which is the most effective use of an ESC. 40amp brushed ESC running a motor that draws 2amps or a 10 amp ESC

Hi, Steam4

10A ESC because its smaller and cheaper (Scottish).

While ESCs should be oversized to take account of nationally different sized amps, if the motor really does take 2 amps it does not need a huge ESC

If you could post a photo of motor and prop you could also get peoples experience of what they use

Provided that the ESC can both handle the voltage supplied by the battery and the current that the motor is going to draw under load, either will do the job.  What will handle a big motor will just as happily handle a small one.  The difference might be in the software that determines how good the low speed control is.  And in the accuracy of the specifications, some ESCs do have wildly optimistic current handling claims, others are based in reality.
