Title: North light Puffer
Post by: verithingeoff on March 07, 2017, 12:56:56 am
I've started to build my Puffer, got the bulkheads in, done the stern tube and rudder and drilled a couple of holes up forward. I have a problem at the rear bulkhead the instructions say fit part No 5  to forward face of bulkhead  to position shown on plan. I take it that No5 is the slightly radiused bit of balsa?

I just can't see exactly where to position it, nor why it is radiused. Is the deck slightly higher in the centre?(http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/ag473/geoff122/Model%20Steam/Aust%20emos/ozzhatcorks_zpsyyfdobuw.gif) (http://s1375.photobucket.com/user/geoff122/media/Model%20Steam/Aust%20emos/ozzhatcorks_zpsyyfdobuw.gif.html)

Martin, thanks for moving the post and for the link.
Doesn't really help as my Puffer is a Calder Craft puffer, slightly different to your build thread(http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/ag473/geoff122/Model%20Steam/Aust%20emos/ozzhatcorks_zpsyyfdobuw.gif) (http://s1375.photobucket.com/user/geoff122/media/Model%20Steam/Aust%20emos/ozzhatcorks_zpsyyfdobuw.gif.html)

Anyone else got an idea?

Decks on most ships are cambered ie a slight rise in the middle to facilitate drainage. I don't know your model but an educated guess for part 5 is that it is required to support the deck aft of the bulkhead.
