Title: Club insurance
Post by: Klunk on March 11, 2017, 06:05:38 am
Ok   .......    here goes on a very sticky subject. The cost and cover with terms of insurance.
I dont want prices or recommendations for companies.
What I would like to know is what clubs get cover for.
Ie.
Third party liability
Public liability
Club house covery
Static show liability
Public show display liability
Etc.

Note I put static and display as these are 2 different types of liabilities.

Also how many does your basic insurance cover. Ie ours cover 100 members.

Over to you with a can of worms!

Ps this was bought about after chasing our insurance ducuments up and asking a simple what are we actually covered for. The conversation was an eye opener!!!

Hi Klunk may I suggest you visit the St.Albans club web site send an email to our Treasurer and he can fill you in probably over the phone on what you get and what you may or may not wish to pay for.
As far as insurance companies go there may be several agents but most insurance eventually goes to Sun Alliance insurance company/

We are ok for cover, but this came about as our insurers have been sold over the years and I was chasing the full document as our note kept referring to schedules that we had no idea of what they are. I then asked a few questions s about what we are and are not covered for. Silly things like we are covered for food preparation etc!

Food preparation is not necessarily silly. Back in the 70s the wife of one of our members made some sausage rolls for one of our public regattas and a lot of people suffered stomach upsets. Fortunately we got away with it, it was not such a litigious age in those days.

At the Bury club as part of our insurance cover in addition to some of that mentioned, we also have Directors & Officers Cover, Employers Liability Cover and the most expensive  part Personal Accident Cover for our members, at the present time we have 140+.
