Been running my 1/24th S-boot on 3x 850's / 2 X 3's and 3 X45 mm raboesch props whilst max speed is possibly just about there it has to be at full throttle to so do not to mention she is bloody heavy. Considering going brushless which would be best just 1 big centre motor with Outer props freewheeling, or just the 2 outers driven or all three driven albeit smaller motors I want to keep the same props if practical and also not have to mess about with cooling systems

Hi Jay I have removed three brushed motors from my 1/24 scale S boat and run one brushless motor on centre shaft with flank props freewheeling.
The brushless motor is a Turnigy 3648 1450kv outrunner operating on a 3s lipo.
Prop is three blade brass at 36/40mm diam.
Boat performs very well.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Graham thought everybody had gone back to Brushed :} OK performs very well is that flat out at scale speed or with a good bit in reserve and what sort of run time Please. Mine is pretty much fast enough but thats flat out with short runtime. What esc are you using and does it need water cooling

Jay my boat has plenty of speed in reserve in this setup.
I run for about half hour with some speed runs/slow runs and drifting about.
ESC is a brushless Graupner /Hawk 50A without water cooling P/N S3068/
Battery is a Turnigy 3s 4500ma 30 to 40c discharge rate.
I am going to try a 2s 5000ma 30/40c discharge battery as well.
The ESC instructions are actually labelled SJ Incorporated.
I also purchased a Hawk Wizard Programmer with Esc it makes things very easy for setup.
You can also use programmer to see how many rpm motor actually used while running.

Question on this as well. I have a 1/24 eboat which was powered by 850 motors x 3. If I put this brushless as center and 2 less powerful motors say 850kv as the out runners, how would I control them for manoeuvring on the out runners and high speed on the center. Obviously 1 esc for center.....1 or 2 for outboard. Preferably to run off 1 stick. Is this feasible? ??

Hi I have used an Electronize switcher or auto relay to do this but I cruised on centre motor and when I push centre motor throttle full forward the flank motors switch on for full speed.
You only need a esc for centre motor.
With the auto relay you require a small size 9v battery to power circuit.

Thanks Graham may have to get another brand motor with similar specs as your one does not seem to be available in the UK and HK being the proverbial PIA keep sending me to the OZ site and then they can't give any shipping details I'll update this when ever
Klunk have you found one of these motors?
-
Nearest was a 3650 at 1450kv priced at £18 uk hobbyking
-
can't find that one least not as an outrunner
-
Jay and Klunk I am sure you will find other motors that will do the job just as well as mine.
I could get the motors for you here in Australia but I think it would end up being costly.

Thanks for the offer Graham I will see what HK Aus .comes up with not to many quite as powerful in that price range though. I suppose one could go for the 2x outers with lesser motors. If needs be [/size]I might take you up on that . You couldn't pop a picture in of your layout if you have time PM if you prefer
Thanks
Jay
Jay, I have 'upped' your print size
