Title: 1/350 scale rigging

Okay ive been giving the tamiya bismarck a good looking at and think she needs some rigging to finish her off.

What should i use for the job???

any hints would be great as ive not tried doing this on such a small scale.

Stretched sprue tend to dissolve when it sniffs glue at this scale but it is a possibility.

If I was doing it I would use human hair.  I used to put antenna on my 1/72nd aircraft with human hair and it looked far more scale than cotton.

There are Titanic kits to this scale and I think they have supporting websites which give information about accessories. It may be worth Googling Titanic models/kits to see what is out there.

I used stretched sprue on all mine but it tends to be very fragile.

Could you unravel some electric motor power cable. ??? ?

Cheers folks will try a strand of wire from the co-axial house arial as i have loads and shouldnt look too out of scale i hope.

Somewhere on this link it mentions that size 15 thread is 0.15mm diameter.  This is about 48mm at 1/350 SCALE.  A good haberdasherer might be able to help.

I use invisible thread on my 1/350 kits. In Canada I buy it at the Fabric store and it comes in a smokey black colour as well as clear (it's a thin monofiliment). Other people use stretchable nylon thread or super fine fishing line, coloured black with a permanent felt marker. Careful though, permanent means it won't fade in the sun, not that it won't come off on your fingers and stain your model! The only thing to be aware of is when you tighten it, it may pull your plastic masts off vertical, for this reason I usually replace them with brass rod. Heat will shrink it and tighten it, but not too much heat!! A hair dryer on low works nicely.
