Title: la class rx-tx problems
Post by: webbo on April 18, 2017, 06:39:47 pm
The continuing saga ,every time I sort a problem out a new one appears . This time when I power up submarine then turn on the transmitter the ballast pump goes into overdrive , rudder and dive planes go hard over and no control whatsoever . This has just happened over night worked ok last night , only thing I have changed is to a wet cell battery, switched back to racing battery and same problem, only thing I can think is to open up WTC, AGAIN and try resetting the 2 ESC. Any ideas  {:-{ {:-{ {:-{,

As Tim said, you should always, but ALWAYS turn the tx on first, check the sticks are in the neutral positions, then turn the rx on.

Umm, did you got that receiver recommended to you in this thread alright? Link (http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,52302.msg536999.html#msg536999)
If so what failsafe mode did you select? It's red light If so,the red led goes out on signal failure.
That's why I designed-in all the warning diagnostic indicators in the sub electronics (including items SPC 1,2,3) ;)

For rc electronic related problems it is helpful if you disclose as much information as possible otherwise you are unlikely to get the correct fault diagnosis straight away. The electronic parts are co-dependent.
Even info as to bec or Rx battery, brand, model of item and so on.

You know what I mean?
If not rearrange my words in any other order.

Well thanks for all the info chaps , I took it all in ,even tried a different tx and rx, same problem, went down to our lake and spoke to our local sub fiend and tried some more advise low and behold a knackered ESC. So now to reorder and then start to put the whole bloody thing back together, I will not be beaten by this just take my time, would have loved to have had it in the water today. Feeling better now :embarrassed:

Webbo, even on the limited amount of information you give, I have the notion the same damage can occur to your esc again because of two possible unresolved issues with your installation. It is your boat so if you want to call an end to the discussion then I will say no more.

The 'Sub Fiend' was Petesubman and the advice given was to use a micro servo
with microswitches for the pump instead of an esc.

Spot on, that man!  :-)) I hope the advice is taken.
I was going to add a freewheeling bridge of four 1-amp schottky (or 3-amp 1N540x series) to that.
