Title: Rewiring A 24v motor to 12v.

I have a seven pole 24v motor that I would like to rewire for use on 12v. Could you plese advise as to wire to be used for say 10a draw at 12v? 8)

The simple, practical answer is to buy a 12 volt motor with the required power rating. 
Not trying to be 'orrible, but it's one of those areas that is in the category of "If you need to ask, don't try it".  The answe used to pop up about four years into the City & Guilds engineering curriculum.

I only ask as I would like to experiment with rewiring as I have not done this type of thing before. I have more 6v and 12v motors than I can use at the moment, but I like to play with things and maybe become a little more enlightend in my modeling ways.

Hi, I tried doing this quite a few years ago on a 40 volt 10 pole Pittman motor, I used only marginally thicker wire and yes it worked, if about 2000rpm at 10 amps on 6 volts, no load can be called working.

I would like to remain anonymous, however we do not seem to have provision for this!

I learnt my lesson, I know how to do it, I can do the physics but the science has escaped me!
