Just opened a 2 part epoxy that has been in the house for 3months the resin part has turned to a soft jelly can I still use or is it time for the bib <:(

Is there a date on the epoxy? It doesn't last forever on the shelf and if it is over 3 years old it might not be in the best condition.
That said, you could try gently warming the resin by standing the container in some warm water. That should turn it runny again. Then mix up a small batch and see if it hardens properly in the expected time. If it does, it is probably OK for model boat use. If it stays a jelly or refuses to cure properly then it's time for a new purchase.

Hi I have some resin that epoxy that does this . I put both bottles in to hot water . leave for 5 min . Then the epoxy is runny . I mix up the glue and it works fine . A while later (hours ) the stuff in the bottle starts to go back to a gell

I had the same problem a few months ago. Mine was of the twin syringe variety. I just sat it on a warm radiator for about 10-15 mins and it worked fine. :-))

Thanks have tried warm water it glues runny but still cloudy have made a couple of samples will see what happens

Glue is too expensive to throw away if its still workable. Zpoxy has risen dramatically in my local shop. (exchange rates?)

Yup, dollar to pound etc. I would say we have had a 20% price increase on American Adhesives. Pity really cos they are damn fine at doing the jobs asked of them.
On the subject of the gooey epoxy, as stated early, immerse the offending tube in a cup of hot water for a few minutes and it is back to workable again. Also, it will stay workable for the life of the bottle. Been there, got the tee shirt, in fact many tee shirts %)

Fair point re the price. I am allergic to normal superglue so I depend a lot on 5 minute epoxy. My preference is for Devcon as it is very forgiving re getting the mix equal and can be used in very small quantities but I have noticed recently that there seems to be rather less in the tubes than there used to be but the price is still high.

Just to update glue has worked fine on test sample so will continue to use it but think I will try another brand next time
