Hello and thank you for reading this my first post !
I have made an account simply out of curiosity as i require some professional assistance from people who know what they are on about.
I have recently purchased a Revell 1:144 type VIIC/41 U-Boat
My question is, what hardware should i require to make this a surface runner?
Props,shafts,motors,speed controller, couplings.
modification of the dual rudders to be driven by a micro servo?
Any help on sizes and motors would be greatly appreciated.
I'm on a budget so cheap as possible suggestions are what I'm heading toward due to money problems.
I also own a Tamiya Bismark 1:350 which i would also love to get on the water but the sub is my main project right now as my ship is built so would need some modification.
If I'm successful on both then i will move onto a 1:72 U-Boat that i would Love to base on my local u-boat U-534
Thank you very kindle for any help on this project :)

Yeah cheers man, I've watched all the videos i can but unfortuantly those people dont give you any information or internal pictures on how to do it, im not making the internal tube type they use for diving as they cost a bomb.

Ok I'm sure someone will be along with the info

where about in the port are you Andrew ????

I suggest you buy and evaluate the Revell U505 kit now and also get in touch with Mark and others up at New Brighton. You might be able to pool resources.
I'll never do the no-budget way again but 34mm outer diameter pipe bunged up with foil taped motor and pump can later be made a static dive unit with external tank. UK standard plumbing PVC in 34mm is just too big for Revell's 34mm bulkhead holes but 2mm wall acrylic tube would slide through. I think that was the idea behind some of the details in the kit.
I can't say if that approach is feasible for a dynamic 1/144 wtc however.

Hi
Have a look at R/R Engineering http://www.rcsubs.co.uk/ Ron has been in this game for some years now, or have a look at the A.M.S forum http://www.theassociationofmodelsubmariners.com/

I'm sure that Mark will be able to help you but don't forget that Haydock Park model boat show at the end of August. A fair number of model submariners and the AMS stand to help you and you may see some surface runners. (An even better event is the Norwich sub weekend this weekend but it is a long way to travel!)
