Title: Model boat hoist - Colwyn Bay Model Boat Club
Post by: kinmel on July 24, 2017, 09:09:55 pm
It has been our ambition for some time to provide equipment for our disabled members to independently launch and recover their model boats.

We now have the final prototype of a mobile boat hoist and are ready to progress to the next stage - motorising the trolley and putting in under radio control.

This video shows a 20Kg sacrificial hull testing the launch and recovery.....     https://youtu.be/rEWIaNxum4Q (https://youtu.be/rEWIaNxum4Q)

Yes it will, more 12v car batteries will not only provide motive power. but act as counterweights too.

The hoist is rated as 100Kg lift, but the heaviest boat at our club is about 25Kg.

The hoist itself is a commercial  wheelchair hoist from a car, Mobility fit them into cars so the disable owner can get their electric wheelchair in and out of their car.
