I spotted this workboat on my travels at Shoreham where she is on charter providing support to divers working on the offshore windfarm. More information is available on the Leask Marine website: http://www.leaskmarine.com/vessels/mv-c-fenna (http://www.leaskmarine.com/vessels/mv-c-fenna)
Note that the proportions are a close fit to a Springer hull. My son also spotted this - perhaps I may still turn him away from the dark side of railways.
If anyone is interested I did take more photos than the two here.

how long ago were those taken, Duncan, as a vessel very similar was in the river at Fleetwood two days ago, but could only see the top half of it showing the wheelhouse and top of the twin "cranes".....of course there must be more of these vessels as there is a big wind farm in Morecambe bay, and expanding, but just unusual for pics of one to be posted, operating at the opposite end of the country to another being sighted, having never seen one before.

The C Fenna is on the Rampion wind farm just off Shoreham at the moment

These workboats are prolific in the offshore energy windfarm areas.
Up to half a dozen are up and down the Humber and out to the
handful of sites being expanded.
They are maids of all work, Towing, dredging, pipelaying, supply
diving, and associated underwater ops to name but few.

aye, thanks for the info guys...........just been on the local tv news that a two mile long pipe has just been delivered to "Blackpool".
so took a tram ride from Fleetwood to Bispham where a new waste water treatment plant is being built, and three of these little vessels and numerous tugs were manhandling the huge pipe buoyed up to float it into the centre of the steel pilings now embedded into the sandy shore to maintain position.
sadly in my haste to get the ferry to fleetwood and get up there, I forgot my camera. sorry.

Taken last Thursday. I believe the type is called a Eurocarrier. I hadn't seen one before. I thought they only used those catamarans for the windfarms - perhaps that's routine maintenance not building. The owners of C-Fenna at Shoreham are based in the Orkneys. I can't see her making that trip too often.
I was also stuck by how close the windfarm is to the harbour entrance at Shoreham. It's quite obvious from the beach next to the harbour.
Question for Ned: are the ones on the Humber based near the coast at Grimsby?

Mainly Danish registered, but get into Grimsby,
Immingham and even Hull at times.
Saw one in Bridlington a couple of years ago
and again last year on the works just outside the
Harbour.
Taking a run up to Brid later today will see if we spot any.
