hi guys,
we have club 500 boats that we would like to use so that youngsters who come down
To the jetty with their parents can have a go at sailing one.
Is there any way electrically/ electronically, I could
Fitt a switched resistor on the throttle pot to halve the speed when used for kids, and switch
Back for normal running speed for adults Or a switched reducer in the boat,
If so what resistor do I need and how / where do I wire it to.

What about fitting those plastic round plates over the Throttle stick, or make something similar to restrict stick movement.

Can you not use the EPA on your TX, assuming you have them?

Many transmitters can be set to reduce the throttle stick effective travel within the servo settings menu.
Typically my Spektrum is at 100 by default but can be adjusted by 50 either way.

all of this depends on what speed control is used. if they are electronic, then limit on the TX as stated.

Hi guys, the boats work of Planet tx & Rx. I don,t want to risk my Spectrum tx being dropped
The planet has survived a few mishaps so sadly no programmable end points.

Slightly off topic, but my grandson uses a neck strap with his pistol grip TX, just in case O0

Simplest brute force and ignorance way might be to fit a high wattage resistor in series with the motor. Wire a switch across it so it can be shorted out for normal use. A bit of experimentation might be needed to get the best value, a dead toaster or hair dryer or similar will provide the resistance wire, a "choc block" connector will mount it nicely allowing the best length to be selected.
Or use a 5 cell battery pack.

Hi guys, neck straps are used with both transmitters but they still tend to drop them occasionally.
I think the easiest way is to fit discs as already stated.
If I can,t reduce the speed in the tx throttle.

I'd go the disc on the Tx method, I would also consider changing the prop to something like a P30 instead of the X prop I think comes with the kit, you'll lower the current draw and increase the run time.
