Does anyone know where I can buy Teak dowels about 12 inches long by 6mm, I have searched ebay but haven't had any luck so far.

Have you tried b&q or wicks?
I know they do hardwood, 1mtr & 2mtr lengths, has it got to be teak?

the main B n Q stores do sell dark wood dowels, but whether they are teak, mahogany or just stained ramin, I have never looked closely.

Most of Bin and Question stripwood
consists of short pieces scarfed together.
Don't expect the glue to like the marine
environment.

I have to ask, what do you want them for? 300 x 6 mm seems an odd size for modelling.

Mantua Models (https://www.mantuamodel.co.uk/4_Model_Wood/Walnut_Dowel/) have walnut dowel, but no teak I'm afraid.

I am building the Lady T steam tug and have already made the two masts out of some teak dowel that I had, and I now would like some smaller diameter teak dowel to make the two booms (if that's what you call them).
It looks like a no go with the teak dowel so I will probably have to go with ordinary dowel and try to stain it to look the same.

If you cannot get a match, consider switching to softwood for both mast and booms. Hardwoods are much more brittle than softwoods, and lack the tensile strength of softwoods. If you are going to have to stain anyway, you would get a better match if you used softwood for both mast and booms.

Thanks for that Tigertiger, that's what I may end up doing, Ill try staining softwood booms first and see what they look like.

Have you a cabinet maker near you who might have some teak you could ask for? I am sure a box of teabags would secure you more than you would need especially as you are making something interesting. My work neighbour is a carpenter and they are very interested in my hobby doings and have helped me out far beyond what I have given in return. He might even cut it to size and get you prepped to make them round?
He's only got two answers to give you:O) Alternatively, see if you have a local timber merchants. I have Yandles within ten miles of me and it is easy to spend a fortnight in there one afternoon and they have timbers of all sizes from the bits between bowl blanks to bloomin great planks worth £100 plus!
I have heard though, that teak is a beast to tools. It has an abrasive texture unless bred teak has had this bred out.

Quite right about teak workability. In Nelson's day the sailors hated to serve on teak built ships constructed in India as the splinters resulting from incoming fire invariably turned septic and often killed the afflicted victim

G&S Specialist Timber do a good range of hardwood dowels starting at 6mm if you want to avoid staining but unfortunately the don't do teak.
