No spoilers yet please! Love Bathurst. It's in my top 3 bucket list races, alongside Le Mans and Pikes Peak hillclimb.
Beer and V8s, can't go wrong!

THE RACE >>:-(
I have driven round the circuit at the legal limit of 60 Kph and that was scary enough especially through the 'Esses' . :police:
300 down the straight Aghhhh. :embarrassed:

Yes BrianB6.......when my dear old Day drove us around the track at 6:30 AM on the day of the race.....[57 years ago]....I thought our FJ Holden would fall off the face of the earth after Skyline {-) [in second gear downhill at about 15 MPH]
In those days the [500 mile] race started at 8:00 AM and finished at about 4:15 PM.....
Nice to see Skippy make a return this year......and for all those doom & gloom dingbats......we now have Penske injecting US$ to combat the dominance of Holden......and in Saturday the announcement of more US$ for the Walkinshaw people courtesy of Andretti Autosport [another American]...same old story...if the Yanks cannot beat us they will buy us
Long live Supercars, the Mountain & the PB Trophy :-)).............[now back to the steam workshop]

How many of you are old enough to remember that it was the Bathurst TT motor bike track before it was hijacked by the cars.
The track was a lot more challenging then, more bends and sharper. Watching the side cars was always a thrill. %% %%
Over the years the track has been straightened, more forgiving bends and the straight was "lengthened" because the V8's couldn't catch the "minis". O0 O0
As Derek mentioned races started early and took all day. Really was a challenging track to drive your car on in those early days.
Hopefully they can keep it challenging as there won"t be any Ford V Holden tussles anymore. Won't talk about the V8 super cars??? <:( <:(

That is sad news, will happen to us all.
Miss the TT races at the mountain, especially the side cars. Back then the way they learned out over the side car and then 'hugged' the rider for the opposite turn really was thrill. That's why you had to get there early and camp on the "hill' to get a good spot.
As they say the old days are gone and I am no longer bullet proof %% %% {-) {-)
