Neil,
It's a bit difficult to express any emotions if you are not on Facebook and many of us aren't!

sorry colin.......you miss a lot, even modelling boats

This is how I plan to spend the rest of my weekend :}

Neil,
I think I can manage without Mark Zuckerberg extracting all my personal information. My model boating is fine without the benefits of social media. I prefer actual to virtual.

The link won't work for me either Neil.
Colin, I vowed I would never use Facebook, but I relented and find it very useful for keeping in touch with friends all over the world. I restrict who sees my posts to friends only, and don't advertise my every move, unlike some.
Peter.

Peter,
At the moment I don't feel any need for it. I spent half my career in IT and remain rather wary of the information that can be extracted from you without you being aware of it! I try to limit it as far as possible although it is probably a losing battle!

The You Tube link worked Neil, and it was certainly good for a laugh. You have to give that panda an A for persistence {-)

Facebook is a total
Anathomer, Anthathomer,Anthathomer, Anathemer that's it. No it's an Anathema.

Facebook is OK in certain circumstances and can be necessary if you are in business. But as with all social media, including email, you do have to assume that ANYTHING you post online is effectively in the public domain. You may think you are restricting circulation to your nearest and dearest but they in turn have their own circle of contacts and something you have committed to print may well end up somewhere you would have preferred it not to. As an example, I have extracts from personal messages about me on Mayhem that the senders never intended me to see but they have in fact passed through several hands and ended up in my inbox. Just as well I don't have a little black book! Recently I was copied into a family email which I'm sure that the sender would not have wanted me to see. (they had of course got their facts wrong!).
It just goes to show that it is an absolute jungle out there even before you have the likes of Mark Zuckerberg siphoning off your personal data for commercial purposes.
Basic rule: Never say on line something you would not be prepared to say to someone's face.
So I will stay off Facebook and Twitter as they are not essential to my model boating activities!

Colin, this post wasn't about the pros and cons of facebook and / or social media, arguments for and against............it was about a funny video, which although you don't wish to watch, others have and found it funny..........can we please keep it as such and lighten up.................if you wish to argue or discuss your own theories about social media......do so on another thread........us that have watched the video.....HAVE ENJOYED AND had a good laugh............ENOUGH. thank you!
-
Yes, sorry to hijack your post Neil although you did rather suggest that Facebook is an important part of model boating.
It was certainly a very funny video.

I wonder what he must have thought when he knocked its 'head' off!
